I'm sure I have seen such a thing in lead, but can;t ever remember a paper one. I have a few dwarven bear riders - mesper's and a couple of others I picked up off someone's blog. But no goats so far!! Perhaps 8rad should start doing some cavalry units....?

I have seen them ride ram and boar ... so why not goats :-) Well within PERMES Fantasy Series sets there are dwarves mounted on Raptors, Bears, Rams... AND EVEN beer barrels(!!!) But I like afet idea, so why not, there might be also Dwarven Goat Riders as well So here is (simple/basic version) Mountain Goat (Yes I know - horns should be smaller, but remember - this is FANTASY Battle Goat, OK? After some more finishing adding more details, some textures and shadows etc. dwarven warrior can be easily added (perhaps even more than one - so small Goat Cavalry Detachment could be formed;) -- Then regarding other PERMES mounted dwarves: (work in progress)Mesper

I'll grab the dwarves from the bear-riders and make a goat rider!

In my designs I have kept dwarves cavalry-less cuz I was never real found of them riding bears. But bring mountain folk goats make a lit of sense...*sigh* something else I want to draw now...

mesper, where can your Dwarf on a ram be found? Err... nowhere... I was referring to WarBeast set, sorry for misleading! BUT Just a raw mockup: That's very preliminary version (IMO rider should be slightly bigger, ca 20% or so?). Hmm... for now we have two mounts: Goat and Ram, then I think that Boar could be also added - so sort of Dwarven Auxillary Cavalry unit could be assembled (assuming that I'll manage to organize some spare time...) Well, any ideas?

I really like the bighorn sheep and I think you are right about the scale of the rider. Boar would also be a good idea...when you have time. Other ideas: Buffalo, musk ox or just a good stout pony. Also Thor's chariot was said to be pulled by goats. Maybe chariots would suit stubby dwarven legs better?

Maybe chariots would suit stubby dwarven legs better? Yep, boar then buffalo or ox sounds fine, but c'mon... PONY? Regarding chariots - good idea!!! However I'm all for simple/plain 2D, while most people most probably would opt for at least 2.5D if not full 3D.

Maybe chariots would suit stubby dwarven legs better? Yup, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr [both variations of old Norse for "Tooth grinder"]. There's a popular Danish comic called 'Valhalla', I just love how it depicts Thor's goats! EDIT: Here's another one: And one more:

That comic is classic, and beats the heck outta Marvel's Thor! Just a small thing as the hair colour, for instance... I mean, we Nordics have always facepalmed over the concept of a blonde Thor. Thor is a redhead, dangit! Some of the came out in several European countries, but alas, not UK. More about the comic book here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla_%28comics%29

here's a wip of the dwarven cavalry I was making for Splinterwoods, I kind of quit on the dwarves because no one seemed to want them. I have a rider and flag pole done but there in Photoshop limbo right now.

I never imagined the term 'noble' being applied to a goat, but it definitely applies to this one

The 'chariot' in the cartoon looks a lot like GM64's Viking wagon with very low sides and ends. It would be a very easy kitbash. Now all we need are the 'steeds'
