So as has been seen in the Forum Hoard #138 (Feb 2016)-All Things Irish Thread, I came up with the Idea of a Still--- Now to me, a Still is fine, but you need a Furnace under it, so there's the original concept: So I've been doing some work on the Still, the "Swan's" Neck collector on top ended up becoming just a double sided piece, due to its small sie, but I have got a handle on the Still-- now to work on the furnace base for it... Of course, it didn't stop there, because a Still really isn't any good without a condenser and a collection vat.... we'll see how much of this gets finished up by the deadline, but that's almost 2 months away, and I have the still and condenser patterns ready for page layout formatting... the full distillery set might become a "for sale" offering...

So have the Furnace base for the still mostly worked out, just a few tweaks to make on it, and on the layout, but the still is almost ready..Did a redesign on the chimney also... but things are coming along pretty well..

My players are going to love this. Instead of doing the usual adventuring, they decided to take their earning s and buy a tavern and distillery. Your Customs House is going to be the tavern and brewery, and with this, well, I think they'll be over the moon.

Makings of a complete alchemists' magic potions supply works in this too!
And somebody's liable to want a ruined version of the still, because you can just tell it has the makings of going one experiment too far...

After doing some more outside work, and assisting Vermin King with his ideas as well, I'm ready to start working on the PDF's and cutfiles for the still... It has expanded a bit, basically, 2 different versions, but you'll be able to mix and match the pieces as you wish.. 2 different textures for the Furnace-Grey or Brown stone with either a lit or unlit furnace.. 2 versions of the still, a polished version, and a neglected, tarnished version Choice of a woodpile or coal pile to fuel the furnace A small collection of barrels in either a new ( yellowish) texture, or a aged, dark texture... I might have to look into a hole for a side@wyvern's (sort of) request for a ruined version.... need to look into exploded biuler pictures and possibly sloping the top "neck" section of the furnace... Some close up pictures of the still builds showing combinations of different textures..

Whew! Didn't make it too subtle then Imagine I shan't be the only one interested though! Most of the exploded boiler images online seem to be either of the domestic heating or steam locomotive types, and even "moonshine brewing still explosions" ("still" seems to be taken as "not a video" unless you add something else...) didn't bring up anything much beyond more variants on the large copper potential projectile, but still intact. Time again to be creative, perhaps?

BTW, today was the 97th anniversary of Prohibition in the U.S. Not exploded, but there are a number of images out there of stills destroyed by the Treasury agents

I guess I need to finish up the Public House Version-2 and the Custom House then as well!

I guess since there has been at least one request for it already, I'll include a damaged still as well--- Found a boiler reference for a crown collapse that gave a good idea of wrinkled metal-- so used that as a base to make some adjustments. I also gave a slight tilt to the still, some "fluid" leaking from two holes in the sides, and to complete the process you can modify/warp/bend the upper cone shaped collector neck parts as you'd like... Still need to do some work top get the top collapse/bending-warping shading onto the pattern, did a short cut and printed just a top piece to start.. but it will look better incorporated into the pattern outline, which involves breaking it into 12 parts..... You can see from the pictures, and the lines of the re-enforced, riveted joints that the angle does change... Sort of top view showing the top crown collapse--- I might make the central opening larger... I've got over a month and to work on this , so thinking of sloping the top step and including a rubble pile to the side it slopes to...

So been doing work on the Platform, Condenser, and Tun (large Barrel) for the still--- need to adjust the dimensions on the condenser and the Holding Tun a little ( condenser is a bit small, the Tun is a little large). and then work on the page layouts.... Also thinking if full 3D platform support posts are necessary, or if the double layer 2D ones are sufficient, plus changing the idea of stairs going up to ramps.. plus a railing for the platform.

The tun looks small to me No, seriously, I think it is fine. Of course it wouldn't be as large as the Heidelberg Tun

Vermin King .. The Heidleburg Tun would be a whole different building! Kudos on knowing about it! The tun being provided, is actually sort of to "scale" for 28mm mini's for the size of an actual tun...

I only had a cheap camera when I was there, so couldn't get any good photos, except for the decoration at the top. Let's just say that it was memorable

This will be the basic Distillery setup with Clean and Tarnished versions, the damaged version will be released later, still working on some details of crumpling the condenser and other modifications...

Oh my gosh the stuff in the actual Irish thread was impressive enough, I didn't realize the incredible amount of work you'd put into it.

well. 2 days of back to back of 5+hour long power outages do not go well to getting closer to getting the instructions and cutfiles finished up.. Might be burning midnight oil tonight!

Best of luck on that. I occasionally think clearly for preparedness. As I was working on the Oratory, I was working from copies, keeping the originals free of my messing them up. It was a good thing...
Where are you at, Tom, that you are having outages?

Milwaukee, WI, been having high wind here taking down trees, powerlines, blowing trucks over on the freeway. 60+mph gusts.

In Kansas City, the highest gusts that I saw were 53 mph, but did you at least get the unseasonably warm weather? Or were you nearer the arctic coldness? Our winds died down this afternoon, and we'll be back to normal temps on Sunday late afternoon

Well, the past few weeks got hectic and interesting with multiple job interviews, laptop issues ( keyboard and display failures) and other aspects of life, so I wasn't able to get this put together for the submission deadline. back to work on putting together a useful flow of instructions and the cutfiles, and then I'll get this put up as soon as possible.

Real life comes first. We'll just have to wait until it is ready. I know I'm not the only one eagerly looking forward to it.
I hope the interviews went well
