I have created some simple bases for slot minis (is that the right word?). You can get the zip file containing 1x1" and 2x1" bases here. They have no textures, just simple green color for now and no instructions. I will add that later.
In these pics I have marked the inside with a brown felt pen to make it look nicer.

I am trying to get to the point where I can make my own ground textures, but that might take some time. I want to get much better at digital painting. Right now I am so busy updating my old products so that they look good again on the vendor page.
bravesirkevin: I will try that Kevin. Good idea to bridge the time until I have my own :-)
bluecloud2k2: I think they are easy to build and look ok to me. Let me know when you have pics!

Okay, did another one with a different grass texture.
Also modded the file to reduce cuts. Dunno if someone can make a cut file for this... I still need to unpack my robocutter and set it up but been hella busy. Is there an easy tutorial on making cut files?
And here's the blank template:
just select by color, click on the bright pink and then use Edit > Paste Into (make sure you have your full-sheet texture already copied to your clipboard).
I have updated the download file with the optimized layout and cutfiles (and a free grass texture i found on the web)!
Lightning, I just have to say you'se da man!!!. This is EXACTLY the type of bases that I was looking for. They weren't much more effort to make than onemonk's and I like the stability of these a whole lot better. I took your png file and did some with a few of the free onemonk overlays that are on the donwloads page. Here is what I did with them:
I used the bloody sci-fi overlay for these bases for my gun crawl game. Now to get the xenos cut out and based and I am ready to play.
There's no such thing as sanity, and that's the sanest fact.

cowboyleland: I always thought Tirick was a little mad.

Vermin King: Really worn out tonight, so when I'm like that I just look for things I used to have, but don't any more. I got the Zippy models and am rebuilding my Tirick/TCF Gaming folder. How the heck would anyone build his 1/1000 Battletech mechs without enlarging

Toman: yea I have been. pretty cool project. I've done a few scratch builds like that but not as large. cutting individual stones or carving stones in foam sucks.

Vermin King: Anybody else following Mauther's home-made Playmobile castle build? Looks really good so far

cowboyleland: Good point. Maybe make the wing feathers seperately so that the wind could get through them?

squirmydad: We had two operators for the hawk though, one to carry the weight and the other to flap the wings.

squirmydad: Probably silk and dowels. I assisted in the construction of a giant hawk puppet for an indoor show, probably about the same size as that pegasus.

Vermin King: It's got to be really light. The article dealt with parade puppets. I don't think I'd want to be trying to control that in a stiff wind

lightning: that's a nice pegasus!

shep: Will it fly, if you move the wings fast enough?
