I found out how to change opacity of a pasted layer, forgot and then found it again. It is not intuitive but it is there. Paste your layer,(Edit: don't anchor it) go up to the "windows" tab, select "Dockable Dialogues" and "Layers" (apparently Ctrl L does the same thing?) The Dialogue window that pops up has an opacity slider or you can enter a number. Hope that helps 'cause I really like him.

Holy Smokes for coincidence. I was listening to a B-52's CD while I was doing lawn work Saturday. I'm anxious to try cowboyleland's solution to my problem after work tonight, maybe. Mom's knee replacement has been moved up from 12:30 tomorrow to 7AM, so I may be heading to the country after work, if I can shake this migraine. A lot of 'if's'
I am hoping I can work out a process for this. I also have a bog pony harnessed to a cart photo, that I would like to turn into a harnessed pony for this Hoard, and toying with the 3/4 view idea, there is also a photo of a mostly front view of a pony that could make an extra pony to throw in.
Besides being a treatment for photo images, I want to play with taking sketches overlaid on a computer generated base which can then be modified. Could be a very useful technique.
These guys were almost extinct, getting down to only 20 left a few decades back. They are 9 to 11 hands tall at the shoulder. They were used in the peat bogs, but also used in mining and as pack animals for the military (which greatly depleted the native stock). I don't know if, as gamers, you would see the use for these, being about a meter tall at the shoulder, but I think they would be 'typical' for a Fantasy setting.

Okay, I'm happy with Bill the Bog Pony. Thank you for all the help, cowboyleland. Only I can't get the tag on there. Played with it for the last 45 minutes trying to put 'Bill the Bog Pony' in white letters on the tag, so I guess he will be nameless. Darn it, I just realized my math was wrong when I scaled him. It'll have to wait until I get back from going out of town for Mom's knee replacement. Crud. At least I think he'll be done for the Hoard

linkHere's my Taiwanese raft. I'll be making instructions and cut-files this weekend and then I'll update the file. I went and made cutfiles: www.dropbox.com/s/hfnzl77r3hmjvjw/fh140-taiwanese-raft.studio3?dl=0I'm a sucker for things that float. I managed to get the page printed, cut, edged and assembled in one evening! I feel like I'm back to my old self again! Looking forward to getting a head start on the minis now.

I am stuck for an idea for this set... How about some kind of alien for trek or sci-fi retro (gremlins with space parts, or something)

Vermin King Bill looks GREAT! If need be, I can see to it that he is named when I add him to the hoard. When I get back tonight or tomorrow, I'll fix the scaling. He's way too tall for a bog pony. I really like the not-quite-photorealistic effect.

Correctly scaled now for 28 mm. At 30 mm, it would be at the small range in height. For 25 mm, he is at the tall range of height. Quite acceptable. In the course of doing this figure, I accidently deleted or overwrote my cartoonish base art. I had thought on my way home tonight that I could adjust the color of both files and have a more greyish version and a darker version. I found a photo of the 'traditional' bog pony saddle and another photo with peat baskets. Which is more advantageous, three versions of Bill with the fold-over parts to add a saddle and baskets? Or should I work on the other two ponies mentioned earlier? To me, I'm thinking different versions of Bill and the ability to have him laden or saddled, but I could be wrong. I really only have two nights to work on it. Having the base model done, the baskets and saddles should be a half evening task (I think)

My first choice would always be to have the original bill plus his variant loads over different coloured ponies. If you can't fit both in.... I know how much grief the wee fecker's already given you tho!!!

Actually I was looking at doing recolors of Bill AND the saddle and baskets OR doing some versions of some of the other ponies that I found. These somewhat shaggy little guys with the cute noses, barrel chests, and smaller height is what I picture when I read Tolkien. They were very strong for their size and can keep going on very little food of poor quality. That's why thousands of them were drafted to the army in the Napoleanic wars and in WWI I also want to play with the 3/4 view idea. There are many other images I've downloaded, which I would work from, not necessarily these. Although the cart pony is probably one I'd want to do. He just has the look of 'Okay, I don't want to be doing this, so let's get on with it, so I can get back to my pasture'.

I've gone through my collected images of bog ponies, and I've lost the saddled pony. As I tried searching for it again, I found out that it is basically a slight modification of the roman saddle. On the photo I wanted to use, the knobs were more horizontal. About 30 degrees from horizontal. This allowed for carrying extra goodies while riding or could be used as attachment points when used as a pack animal. In this latest search, I found another image of what looked like a mule descended from a bog pony carrying baskets on it's sides attached to this type of saddle. So that is what I'm going with. Now for design. I'd planned on just doing a slide on fold-over, but to make it a better fit, I'm doing a layer between the two sides. It should make sense when you see it. Can I ask for an extension until Monday?

I hereby request this Hoard be extended until May 2. Eh, since I'm the one in charge of opening and closing Hoards, I think it is approved ... lol Can't promise, as we have couple day off here: 1st of may and then 3-rd of may (1791 Constitution Day) so well, you know... But I'll try to submit another one version of Stone Monstrosity (and if not I'll probably release it somehow later?) Well, it goes without saying that some mythical monstrosity inhabitant highlands. Mythical mostly because somehow there is lack of any reliable reports... There are some rumours though. As they say this quirky monstrosity feels just lonely and he is seemingly friendly one! In fact so friendly that he wants to hug each end every traveller and passer-by! And he is giving really, really rock-solid hugs! So probably that's why he's called "The Hugger"?

squirmydad - if you need some extra time to get the redone raft in, that's fine with me. I can get all the other minis prepped and submitted, and we can add the raft into the hoard as a separate file later if need be.

Things are just about wrapped up with this one - cutfiles are laid out, and just need testing. PDFs are laid out and need printing. My computer is starting to get frustrating again, so I'll pause a day and get to cutting maybe Wednesday. I don't know why, but sometimes Windows (actually, I blame Adobe) gets into this mode where it just can't delete a PDF file. Normally I'd curse and fight with it, but I think tonight I'll just power everything down and deal with it later!
