Sounds like a model kit to me. The IP would only become a serious issue if it were offered for sale or if CBS/Paramount took issue with people making models of their designs and posting them for free. I haven't seen any evidence of that from CBS/Paramount, unlike GW which is a good IP to steer clear of as far as recreating their ideas. Make a ship!

Check out some of AirDave's Koolwheelz models for his disclaimer. Generally, statements regarding the model being 'Fan Art' (and not trying to sell it) avoids issues. A statement that this is your interpretation of the original designer's concept, while generally unnecessary, wouldn't hurt. I've seen several artists use that tag, too

Great to see entries starting to come in, only eight days left for entries! And that's a hard eight, not a hoard eight. Actually it's after I wake up on September 1st, Alaska time.

Here is a tip I want to remember for next year: base your colours on the markers you have available to edge with.

Ha! I've actually changed the design of things because I didn't feel like edging with colors other then black.

Our generation(s) have all been brought up with cartoons and comic books. Our brains tune out black lines. Black edging is good

But black edging doesn't look good on 3d models.

I've been spoiled by Tombow dual brush pens...I can't stand using black to edge unless the model is black.
