Ok so I've been working on some house rules for adding vehicles, outdoor settings, and such into GunCrawl. I've tried to stat everything in a way to maintain balance, like stating vehicle weapons closer to player weapons and reducing range to a more tactical feel. Here is what I have, this is pretty much my completed version tho I might tweek/update a few things here and there as I playtest it. Let me know what you guys think? Newest Version! Here is a PDF version of my House Rules and also the F.A.Q.: GunCrawl 1st Edition - House Rules v4.1GunCrawl 1st Edition - F.A.Q.The above links are the most current versions.

Wow, I'll have to read through this tonight. Looks interesting Thanks lol, hoping to get some play test in soon and give some game reports on how it turned out, I have a couple weeks of vacation coming up in a few days so definitely planning on doing a lot of building Hahahaha. Glad I had some free time these past couple months to see what I could come up with for bringing vehicles into GunCrawl. So far in theory it looks like it may balance out pretty well lol.

I hope it goes well. Are you testing with one person or several? I was surprised there were no tracked tanks. Or did I miss them? I don't know if you remember the Oshkosh M-ATV I did as a test build for Jesse, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/5777/oshkosh-atv, but that would absolutely never work for gaming terrain. So I've been playing with making one more suitable for gaming. More complex than the Kamel FAAV, not as complex as many of Chris's vehicles. Something like that might fit in

I hope it goes well. Are you testing with one person or several? Both, I'm going to start testing with just me since GunCrawl could always be played solo or as a group (I always liked that in GunCrawl I could be in the squad too rather than be a DM lol), I also have a couple friends and the wife (who likes gaming as much as me) to help me test the rules with too. Also if anyone wants to give them a whirl or has suggestions I'm more than happy to hear them lol! I was surprised there were no tracked tanks. Or did I miss them? There pretty much is, it would just be the same as the YellowJacket. I just stated out a lot of main vehicles I use often as examples, all you'd have to do is match the closest profile to the vehicle you want in the game. I don't know if you remember the Oshkosh M-ATV I did as a test build for Jesse, cardboard-warriors.proboardcom/thread/5777/oshkosh-atv, but that would absolutely never work for gaming terrain. So I've been playing with making one more suitable for gaming. More complex than the Kamel FAAV, not as complex as many of Chris's vehicles. Something like that might fit in Yeah I remember that one, I always wished the 4x4 APV had a varient that looked like that cause I like the open bead look! That would definitely be awesome to see a model like you mentioned done and would fit in perfectly!

Can't make any promises on the time frame on it. I'm working on a carriage, steam carriage, a steampunkish looking building, and a few other projects. I wish I knew more about 3d model programs. The fenders and hood are giving me issues

Hahahaha I know what you mean, I've dabbled with a few 3D programs before but just can't seem to get the hang of them. I did take some Photoshop and Illustrator classes in college a while back tho so I got that down a little bit at least, found out there is a lot you can do with just those two programs alone lol.

worked on it some more last night. I still don't have the geometry down for the fenders and hood, but a little closer

A little closer is always a plus lol! I'm guessing those are the hardest parts left to do in the 3D editor?

No, I'm doing it old school. Make a best guess at size, and then after testing it in real life, adjusting the size again. I actually would probably been better off doing the white model using restickable glue stick and then taking it apart and scanning the parts.
Six one way, half a dozen the other

Nothing wrong with old school, a lot of the best models I've bought and built we're done that way!

Dave Winfield (Koolwheelz, etc.) uses no 3d model programs. How he can just visualize what needs to be done, I don't know. He says it is merely experience

It's crazy what some people can do with just a little imagination and free hand! I'm constantly in awe of a lot of the great work the artist we have here do!

Finally picked up the Terra Force Wolverine MBT (been meaning to just keep forgetting lol) so I'll be adding it to the house rules! I also ended up ordering some 1/4" rare earth disk magnets to make rotating parts and turrets so that should make things more interesting too lol!

uptrainfan89 : What source are you using to acquire your magnets? And what is the cost breakdown? I've watched other guys (and gals) post about their usage, and have considered trying them, but have just never gotten around to ordering / picking up any.

I've watched other guys (and gals) post about their usage, and have considered trying them, but have just never gotten around to ordering / picking up any. I ended up ordering 3 sets from this site: .25" Rare Earth Disk MagnetsI got the .25" ones cause I figured that size would probably fit anywhere I wanted it to and still more than strong enough to hold just about anything. It cost $11.99 for 80 of them so it comes out to be roughly $.15 cents per magnet I believe. I'm debating on picking up some washers or something to go with them that way I don't have to worry about having all the magnets polarity lined up the same way to make parts swappable.

Thanks, uptrain89. The washers seem like a good idea - not only for the reason you gave, but also that you'd only have to use one per spin-point rather than two, so they would go twice as far.

Yeah, thinking about going to our local Menards tonight and seeing what they have for about the same size. Just have to make sure to get a magnetic metal lol.

Updated the House Rules! Added N.C.C. Heavy Drones to the Drone Controller special ability and Drone section, Added a couple Rules to the Vehicles Section, Increased Weapon Capacity of the Hummingbird, Added 2 Chickenhawk Variants, and Lastly Added the Energy Cannon to the Weapons Section! Debating now if the Mortars and SAM Missiles are to powerful (Power wise) or if they should be toned down, tho if they are available in mission it would only be maybe a couple of them?

Ok so I did a little overhaul of my custom GunCrawl house rules, first off it had a couple areas where it still needed balance tweeks. Second I added some custom special abilities and made a few things exclusive to certain characters/races and Third I added a sort of Mystical/Force/Magic system and weapons/equipment that I really wanna play test and see how it pans out (so far in theory it looks good)!

I'll make it look a little more pretty soon and upload a PDF version for everyone to download! So far what do you guys think? Absolutely cannot wait to see these in pdf format. Last night, starting with a stack of cardstock and the pdf's from Christopher Roe's GunCrawl 2nd Ed stuff, I printed, cut by hand, and built all but the door frames. Took me about 8 hours to get all that done. I already had the TF stuff built for the GunCrawl I was working on earlier and now I am going to be making tuckboxes for the cards and maybe a small box for the tokens. And once I can get those made (or at least the pdf's downloaded), I will put together the xenomorphs from onemonk that came with the 2nd Ed. rules. Then I will finally get to playtest the game solo and see what rules I need to figure out so I can bring the game to my FLGS and teach them how to play. Looks like some good work there uptrainfan89!!!

Thanks, I've always loved GunCrawl since I discovered it a few years back, it's such a fun game and I like that it can be played solo if I wanna play a few rounds without the group. I also love how it's a sandbox rule set and can be used for pretty much any style of game you can think of so I couldn't resist, I felt it needed vehicle rules too. I've done a little play testing with it so far (not as much as I'd like) but it seems to balance out pretty well, my biggest worry when I first was putting it together was Vehicles being way too over powered but the armor point system seems to take care of that and weapons stay about the same stat wise. I also had to add some neat ideas I had for equipment and classes/special abilities like a magic wielding Mystic class.

I was take a look at files of this game and read about it. How it possible to play it solo? I dont have anyone to play with :/ I think to make some game like that but no point if no one play it. I watch Guncrawl 1st Edition files from Chris site and it is a lot to build and print there. Rules book is 40 pages in english so is any simple version of it haha.

I watch Guncrawl 1st Edition files from Chris site and it is a lot to build and print there. Rules book is 40 pages in english so is any simple version of it haha. It's a pretty easy game to learn and even more fun with the large amount of things you can do or stat out. As for solo play the rules basically play the enemy units for you, like say if an enemy is patrolling down a corridor and has no knowledge of where the enemy is or that their is even a threat and they come to 4 way intersection then roll a D6 and depending on the result that's the direction they will continue patrolling. For a known threat or location the enemy will move towards and attack the nearest player character once they are with in range. Sometimes I like to make specialized enemies who will try to attack specific types of characters say go after a commander first. As for the rule book it's pretty much just the first half and a few pages at the end that are rules, the rest is guide lines on where and what to put on the character and enemy cards. It also has a printer friendly version.

Also, Christopher Roe has linked to the beta version of his 2nd Edition rules and the way the game is made up, it makes playing solo that much easier. I just about built the entire game from scratch in one night. Everything you need is included with the file (it even has a buildable box to carry it all in). Here is the forum thread that has the link to get the 2nd edition files. Since I work overnights, I rarely have time to play against anyone, solo play is about the best I can do right now, so this is perfect for me.

whisper31 same problem for my. I work 3 shifts and in nights too. Not much time for anything. And all my friends go away to work in different countrys and places so I am all alone anyway. I get bored with pc games very fast and after Mass Effect Trilogy I done playing on PC lol. Cant find any better game since then. Thanks for 2nd edition:) It has really nice files there. I will need a free weekend to get a hand of it. Probably only look so comlicated but it is nice the boxing have list of all needed items too. From ebbles_terraforce_mods I find very cute soldiers figures. I think to use them for Guncrawl Marine pones coz the originals are comlicated to build
