Hello mates.
Hope this is the right forum board, as i'm not talking about paper, just about gaming
I'm thinking about writing music as background for RPG gaming sessions and selling it at stores like RPGNOW. As my usual style (the music i compose for my own pleasure) is a mix of electronic and rock, this project will be geared toward the sci-fi genre. I have really no idea if there's a market for this kind of stuff, but i compose music anyway (i just HAVE to do it ) from when i was 12 years old, so why not trying something new?
But I'm finding some ... difficulties in writing music for this specific purpose. My toughts are that, for a track that wants to "describe" an ambient, or "set the mood" for a "chapter of the story", while the players discuss their actions and plays, the lenght should be much longer than any "normal" track you listen... so i'm building scores that have an average duration of 6 to 10 minutes... which seems to me "too much" for a track (it tooks years to learn to shrink my ideas below 6-7 minutes, for me), but which may be too short while gaming (in my experience, 10 minutes of RPG playing are often just a pair of "actions" and some description...)
So i'm asking for:
So.... what are your tips and suggestions?
PS
While i'm here, why not share my "normal" music?
You can find it at my SoundCloud page

So i'm asking for:
- any thought about this from all you sci-fi Masters/Players/Boardgamers, and from all you carboard friends.
- someone who's willing to download and test 5-6 tracks during his gaming sessions and report to me any impression/feedback he and his players may have to say. That tracks are arranged but still unfinished, so no (or roughly) mixed, not mastered as a "whole", but still useable (i mean, i'm not ashamed to let someone ear them ).
(I will not go thru a full "non-disclosure agrement" about this, still the tracks should not be shared in any way).
So.... what are your tips and suggestions?
