At this point, this is pretty much a slightly modified repaint of the Bilsport Jr Semi, web.archive.org/web/20081021043816/http://www.bilsportjunior.se/vikbilar.phpI want 3d wheels on this. I want it to build cleaner. I want it to be much more sturdy. So I decided I needed to build a couple more trucks to figure out what I want to do. Once I get this fellow turned into a model, I'm going to do a Budweiser Clydesdale Transport Truck. First truck is the Mitsubishi Fuso Eco-D, www.mitsubishi-fuso.com/jp/entertainment/enjoy/papercraft.htmlThis is a model that would be easier to build if they had broken it up into more pieces. To have tires with treads, they might as well have had a back face on the tires, but that was their decision. This one was on my radar for a long time to be modified into a semi and other futuristic service trucks. It's been a long time coming, but I finally built it. Learned quite a bit about what I want in the Bud trucks, and what I want to avoid. I didn't realize that either Norbtach designed the Bilsport truck or they based it off one of his Peterbilts, www.norbtach.nl/bouwplaat/truckshop/truckshop.html

Bud Christmas Truck v2. I wanted 3d wheels and a more solid chassis and trailer. I also see that the graphics on the first truck need a little work. I did some on this version, but it needs more. BCT v3 will be coming, but I need to check geometry on BCT v2 first.

Love it! Can't wait to try making one myself!

It's coming. A lot of the details got lost, and in changing the geometry to make it more solid and less toy-like, some of the tabs need adjustment, but I think this is going to be a nifty little model. I've already given away two of the first versions to people that saw it.
I really want to get this wrapped up, because I really am anxious to do that one section of the brew house. I wish I knew more about having layers to turn on and off. This model needs to be one that is just the Bud truck until you click the Christmas layer or the Clydesdales layer. The Brew House could be generic, with the AB layer and the AB Christmas layer.
But until I figure that out, I'll just have to have three separate models for the truck.
EDIT: One thing that I forgot to mention on the v2 truck.
In the first two photos, by the cab sides are two strips that do not show well. The sides of the sleeper extend past the back of the sleeper. The strips are the inserts for the inside of the extension. I had considered putting them on the sides of the back piece, instead of having tabs. I decided that tabs and inserts would make a more solid build

Did up the trailer tonight. Yes, v2 is more solid, but I need to clean up the graphics a bit, and do an adjustment to the hitch and hitch pin. But this is a lot more difficult to build than version 1. The question is 'Do you want to build something that doesn't look much better than the simple one?' I think that adding the treads to v1, with the modified hitch, the full fender piece and a base plate for the cab is going to add 'enough' structure, without being as fiddly as v2. Somehow, I've lost my base red truck file. I question my plans for the other versions, since I don't know if it is easier to remove my Christmas graphics, or go back and generate my base truck first. Maybe after thinking about it for a couple days, I'll come up with a new plan. In the meantime, I have two versions of the Christmas truck. As I have described the situation, do you want the easier one, or the more solid one?

Well, I found the base red truck. Without direction, I've decided to go with the more simplified version

Well, converting the modified version 1 to be cutter friendly, I realized that there will have to be a trade off for ease of build vs cutter friendliness.
Version 3 is going to be developed cutter-friendly from the start. Aiming for a mid-point between v1 and v2.
I'm afraid it is going to have to go to three pages instead of two...
EDIT--But version 2 has already found a good home. For an unpublished model, there are getting to be quite a few of them out there.

We discovered a cardboard version of the Coca-cola Christmas Truck in Asda yesterday. Only got a front view, I'm afraid.... #holidaysarecoming

Aargh! I inadvertently saved a change to version 2 file, after inadvertently deleting the top of the cab. Never work on files when you are exhausted.
The missing part is easily able to be regenerated from the version 1 truck, but since I already decided to do a third version, I think I'll just forget about it.
Since the version 1 and version 2 trailers will have to be modified to fit in the cutter-friendly area, and since I gave up on fitting the model on two cutter-friendly pages, I'm going to make the trailer a tad wider and three tads longer. It just seems a bit small in relation to the cab, so this gives me an opportunity to correct it.
In the course of working on version 3 I intend to take extra care not to mess up version 1.

And in working on version 3 tonight, I took most of the elements from version 1, some from version 2, all being done in cutter-friendly space.
When I was getting ready to print off and build, I found an error which has been corrected. If it wasn't so close to the end of the month, I'd have followed the plan of just making a few changes from version 1 and making it cutter-friendly. When there are too many versions out there, it's easy to mess things up. I do intend to do a base truck and the Clydesdales truck in December. That is just going to be from the base truck and cutter-friendly from the start. I now know how I have to lay it out, which will help.
BUT ... I'm not releasing it until I build it and am sure I didn't include a glaring error, but that has to wait until tomorrow night

Printed, coated and scored. In re-formatting, I realized I lost some of the fold-indication lines. But hey, I have over 24 hours to get it fixed.
It seems odd that the first version went together so quickly, and in re-working it, things disappear or get fuzzy on the edges, but we'll see how it goes together, do any last minute tweaks and get fold lines replaced that disappeared

Well, last night's build and polishing of the files didn't go well. And I stayed up too late trying to fix things. The hood sides require too much effort to fit flush against the grill. I've done small lengthenings three times now, and I hesitate to do it again or I might have fit issues over the fender arches. But I have a solution. I'm going to have the windshield as a separate piece that goes in last. Building the hood section from the front, any extra length to the hood top surface will extend into the cab and the windshield will cover that up. I'll probably reduce the length of the hood by 1% too. I'll try it out tonight

I just noticed how 'garish' the red seems to be on the templates, but as you can see from the photos, it almost has to be that bright when you print on cardstock EDIT -- I was wanting to see how kegs are loaded on the trucks, and when I did an image search, I saw this There may be more beer trucks in my future
