As my son's girlfriend's girl Zoe is now a Star Wars fan, I'm trying to figure out what to give her for her birthday on the 25th. Probably not this one

Ask yourself, is she with the light or does she side with the dark side? Then ask yourself, whether starfighter(s) or figure(s). How about a nice little diorama? ^^

My son pictures her running through the house with ships in each hand going 'Tchieu, tchieu, tchieu'. So I think I'm going for ships

I am planning on doing a Yoda figure from piromodel. I've seen references to the model many times, but I don't see where anyone has built it. Possibly Mauther has, but there is no build thread. The photo he has on his blog is not from the piromodel site, papermau.blogspot.com/2013/05/star-wars-grand-master-yoda-paper-model.html. I've had this downloaded (actually I found four copies on my hard drive) for a long time. It will be fiddly, and I question whether this will be buildable ... at least by me. I printed it on 65 lb cardstock and I was able to enlarge it by 20% and still have it fit on two pages. Tabs are too small and some are in odd places. I hope to have it done by Thanksgiving (her birthday is the 25th), but if it is too much of a pain, I'll work on it a little at a time and hope to have it done for Christmas. We'll just have to see how it goes. BTW ... the file is a .jar file. I saw somewhere that this type of file is the same as an .rar file. I just changed the 'j' to 'r', and 7-zip was able to open it

I had forgotten about those. I did the bit8 teenaged mutant ninja turtles a long time ago. I wasn't aware of these

I had originally considered doing a whole campaign in this style 28mm scale.

After going through a lot of templates, I think I've decided on the ships. I wanted ships that aren't overly complicated, that can be built fairly solid. The Momir Farooq Fighter Scale models would be perfect if they were twice as big. www.momirfarooq.com/swstarfighter/index.htmlSo I spent my evening doubling the size of several of the models. And there was Thunderchild's mini Falcon that I'd looked at earlier. To get it twice as big, it became a three-page, tightly-packed template. Has anyone built it?

Wow. I was looking at your miniatures. Nice painting. On the 3d printing, do you design your own there?

Well, the official word is that she especially likes the cartoon, so Figures is what I need to concentrate on. There are other SW figures hidden in the blog, too.

Wow. I was looking at your miniatures. Nice painting. On the 3d printing, do you design your own there? Nah, I know how to do little stuff in Photoshop, like taking an existing 3D model and include it into a picture with correct lighting and such, and even painting on the model, but mostly I have to search for models in the internet. And when I find some cool stuff that I want to haven printed, I upload the STL for personal use on shapeways and have them printed. Also, I buy minis on shapeways every now and then. All the painted prints in my deviantART gallery are from shapeways. Basically, I consider myself more of a modder than a modeller, painter, artist, etc. My true expertise lies with words. I'm a freelance journalist and author. And about my painted minis... After almost 30 years of dabbling around with minis and acrylics, I should probably be much better at painting than I actually am. But thanks for liking my stuff.

Well, let's see how many bit+ characters I can get done today. Ordered them on the pages last night, printed and coated this morning, so let's hope they go together as well as the TMNT crew.

I had originally considered doing a whole campaign in this style 28mm scale. Did you ever do any tests on the concept? The last post on the Bit+ site was Dec 1, 2015. I hate to see these drop off. If you ever decide to do a set of those, can I give you some observations? 1. The front face needs a broader black border to simplify cutting 2. If you print these at 100% instead of fit to page, they are pretty much 1 inch to the eyes or eyebrows (big eyes). When I made up my sheets to print, I just Selected All, copied and pasted onto the sheet of 4/5 figures. 3. Put weapons in their hands instead of big old honking hands that don't hold weapons well.

I only built the larger scale ones, but they weren't too challenging. I didn't see the hidden star wars figures you had found. The stormtroopers and ewoks looked cool!

Another comment on these. They are thicker at the top than the bottom. With the big hands, they tend to be front-heavy, but the Stormtroopers are designed to lean forward to begin with, so they really like to fall on their faces.
I think they are going to require bases

Could you put bottoms on them and weight on the inside?

Some of them have separated legs, so I am thinking of just gluing weights on the inside of the backs

Those are interesting. How tall are they? I wonder if the stormtroopers could be recoloured into 30mm scale (so about 20mm tall) goblins.

Depending on the figure, the human figures are about an inch to the eyes or eyebrows. They have a bit of a chibi look to them with the oversized heads, and eyes disproportionately large for the large heads.

They have a bit of a chibi look to them with the oversized heads, and eyes disproportionately large for the large heads. That is what made me think they look like goblins. So I would need to build them at 80%, if I were to do the re-colour. My goblins do need an upgrade and I want to do 3d but scaling my Sherlock Holmes style of mini down to goblin size is fiddly.

Razzum frazzum! They didn't have Brother LC75 Color 3-Packs when I went to Office Depot, and they told me LC79 would work. WRONG! Stupid Bairns

Brother printers have done better for me than HP or Canon. I've never had an Epson. After horrible experiences with Canon ... again ... I got this one seven years ago and it is still running like a champ

Well, they exchanged it with no issues, and let me use a $10 off coupon on the new set of cartridges to boot. Not bad. I'll have to take back a couple of the many bad comments I've made about Office Depot. Not too many. I'm making a big dent in these. Only six more to go, and it looks like they will all fit in the tuck box I did for them. The original is the freebie off RPGNow from Black Scroll Games to hold 6X6 tiles

Cool! I went another way with my goblins btw. I shrunk down eddnic's orc and distorted the head. Love that box.
