I didn't see another thread here after searching. Sorry if I missed it! I had seen Inkarnate (http://inkarnate.com) popping up a lot on my Facebook feed. Though I wasn't all that impressed with the actual maps I was seeing, the textures seemed so pleasant... So, I whipped up a map today. Took about... I don't know... 15 minutes? Not sure how well that got attached. The site still carries the "Beta" label, and yeah, it's missing some features that would be a big time saver. Making rivers easier would be great. Making roads would be great. More markers would be pretty cool. Being able to export at a higher resolution, or being able to tie multiple maps together would be sweet. Having it rough up the shoreline for me would be the biggest time saver. Still, it's got a nice collection of stuff, it's quite easy to use, and it's free right now. I could totally see starting with this and finishing things up in GIMP. I think it's a fantastic little program to make something up quick. Has anyone else used it and made some fun maps?

Dang, pretty solid for a 15 min test-drive. I can see this being a really useful tool.

I've never noticed much of a difference between the mouse I have at work and the one I use at home, but I sure did today. To make the coastlines jagged, I drew in the basic shapes and switched to subtracting with a size 3 brush. I'd wiggle the mouse against the coast, leaving interesting rough edges behind, often with little bits left behind that look like a rocky coast. At work, the mouse was way less sensitive and I had a really hard time making the coasts... I'll have to see if I can tweak my mouse sensitivity settings!
