The theme for this month's HOARD is Mountain Mayhem This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of April, 2017. Mountain Eyries, Castles, Temples & Lairs are obvious topics. Any mountain-dwelling characters and creatures are open. And how about a mountain spruce? Real, mythical and fictitious mountain dwellers and terrain should be fun

er, um, I believe that was Squir-rel and Mootz. Rocket Raccoons go into their rooms only to read Gideon's Bible. Unless this was a Guardians of the Galaxy reference by jeffgeorge

Really, a squir-rel named "Rocky?" That is confusing. But possible. I have only the vaguest recollection of the show from childhood. Maybe I'll look it up on youtube.

I was going to point you to Telman's Hakos of the characters (he also has a bunch of Pogo characters), but he evidently shut down his site and moved everything to the Zealot Forum, oh, well

Unless this was a Guardians of the Galaxy reference by jeffgeorge I'm going to pretend it was a White Album reference, since that's so much cooler than Guardians of the Galaxy, and ignore the fact that if it had been, it would have been "Rocky" and not "Rocket." But that reminds me of this guy: Which leads me to: and logically on to: but the fig I really want to play as a mountain-oriented PC is everybody's favorite:

Doesn't look very practical... I just did a net image search, and that one caught my eye as someone who wouldn't last long That search had mostly modern military images, so I need to change my search criterion

It looks to me like her glamour would protect her.

I was thinking of doing a mine adit for this hoard, but not know how folks set up to play mountain settings, I'm not sure how to proceed

Perhaps the woman in the scale mail is the Frost Giant's Daughter. And here she is beckoning her victim to be slaughtered by her brothers. Unless, of course, she has enraptured Conan . . .

I think I am going to re-purpose one of the burial mounds for the mine entrance. This actually looks like it is going to work well, if I can finish it up

If (and a BIG if) I can get my butt moving, I have an idea for a Mountain Yak. And possibly get around to my pandas.
With the release of patch 7.2 for World of Warcraft, I have pretty much lost interest in spending hours a day on the game, which is giving me more hobby time. Frostgrave, Bolt Action, SAGA, Pikeman's Lament, and papercrafting are all getting more time from me.
But my dad is having some surgery in a week, and we are going down to help my mom with the aftercare, so I might still be too busy to really get things rolling.

This is a Mod of John Hartman's Heroic Fantasy Races 01. I used his base Centaur and exchanged weapons from other Races in the set. Here is the Centaur Mountain Herd Mod. This is my first submission. I use Paint.net to do the art modifications. I downloaded GIMP to put the images in but couldn't figure how to manipulate the layers or their positioning. I can email the save PSD which has the art objects hidden if you rather have it, let me know.

tomwh - I can help with GIMP (as can plenty of other folks around here) if it's something you want to get into more. Thank you for working on a submission for the hoards! The figures seem to have undergone some serious scaling trouble, resulting in very blurry images when scaled back up to 300 dpi. I don't know if it's just that the final image was exported at the wrong resolution, or if the source that you're working with is the wrong resolution, or maybe postimg is doing something to the image... I'm going to ask that you look into this, and see if you can't get a 300dpi version to submit. If you're having trouble, you might want to start a new thread and we'll all chime in with whatever useful knowledge we may have.

GIMP is a lot like Photoshop, but not exactly, so definitely focus on GIMP-specific tutorials while you're starting out. I'd start by entering something like "GIMP tutorial beginner layers" in YouTube's search field. GIMP is amazingly powerful, but it's less user-friendly than Photoshop (if you can imagine that...). It's worth learning, though, because once you get it down, it will do most anything you need in terms of image manipulation.
