I read the whole Obrien series (Master and Commander was the movie based on them). Probably the most immersive novels of the age of sail I've ever read. (although they are set more during Napoleanic era...about 80 years late for the Golden age of Piracy). If you haven't seen Master and Commander....do so immediately! It is quite possibly the best movie ever set on a sailing vessel.
Some other good reads of the era are Dewey Lamdin's Alan Lewrie series....a kind of a racy version of Horatio Hornblower. And the young adult series Bloody Jacky Faber by L.A. Meyer is really fun...especially the audiobooks narrated by Katherine Kellgren. (here in Canada you can get them from the E-libraries most of our library systems subscribe to).
Not exactly the Golden age of piracy...but great sailing yarns to be sure....
