This is a trivial technique for making fuller, sturdier slotted (fold-flat) trees. I've never seen it before, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere. I was inspired by some simple slotted trees that okumarts gave out on his Patreon: www.patreon.com/okumartsHere's a photo of the trees in the background: I'm leaving out the part you already know, make two pieces, one with a slot on the top and the other at the base and slide them together. I like fold-flat stuff, but have found these to be just a bit to flimsy at my table, and I'd wished for something "heavier". So when he gave his backers these trees, I tried this simple technique out that produced this result: Two Trees into One by Oracle Omega, on Flickr The technique is to simply assemble two trees as one... Two Trees into One by Oracle Omega, on Flickr Put the pieces together - there's really only one way... same-slot-to-same-slot... Two Trees into One by Oracle Omega, on Flickr Much heavier, much sturdier, disassembles trivially and stores flat. :-) Two Trees into One by Oracle Omega, on Flickr

Why didn't I think of that? Wonderful idea
Didn't Mauther have some trees on his blog that could be played with? I seem to remember some flowering trees that had six segments.

I'd love to see other designs. I've built several that are split-glued panels (3,4, or 6 faces) - generally, those don't fold flat (well.)

Yeah, fold flat is big for me. I keep my trees and dungeon walls in plastic sleeves in a binder.

Cool thing about this assembly hack is that you can choose how many trees you want to make with every 4 pieces - so just a few? Go sturdy. Need a lot, go simple. Assembly time choice. My favorite.
