But where is the center summoning stone with the chaos symbol carved into it! Something for the cultists to stand around... JIM

The broken stones are excellent. I like the way you have them scattered all over the place. Very nice. I'd like to get the set of them when you are done. I think the grass texture tile needs something more though... maybe some barren rocky areas. Some worn paths, maybe some footprints? an old camp fire site? Some more distinct mounds or a variety of grass textures.

Yup, grass tile variations and chaotic summoning bits are next. I just have to get a bug out of my system first then I'll be able to concentrate.

You know, I spent some time about 25 years ago working on the grounds crew of a resort just north of Gunnison, Colorado. Tending a lawn up there takes a lot more work than it does here in the midwest. Sometimes I would spend the morning or the afternoon watering the lawn. That meant I hauled out a bunch of sprinklers and scores of yards of water hose and continually moved them around for the four hour shift. The trick was figuring out where to put them.
In order to know where the grass needed watering I had to look at its color. Dry grass had a blue tinge, but you couldn't see it if you were standing right on top of the grass. I would have to look at the grass from about 30 or 40 yards away before I could see the blue shade that meant it needed water at that particular spot.
There's a lot more than "green" as an answer to the question, "What color is grass?"
Have fun! Steve

Blue? Hmm, never seen that. The grass here gets kinda yellowy off-white...hmm, I should stick some grass in the scanner and then do some color sampling in Photoshop. Thanks!

Steve must live in Tennessee with all that bluegrass. Nope, that was up in the Colorado Rockies. But the lawn was all originally sod, so it could have come in from Kentucky. Like I say, if you looked straight down at your feet, the grass was just green. You had to look at it from about 30 or 40 yards away before you could see the blue, and even at that, it was just a faint tinge. And the whole point was to catch the dry spots and water them before the grass started to die, not after. Getting grass to look right means more than grabbing the green Crayola, as I think squirmydad might now testify. Have fun! Steve

We get grass bluing here in Australia - like Steve said it must be a heat / water content level thing.

I think making them like Mel's interlocking terrain tiles would be cool. I have a vector layout for Mel's tiles, if you want something that's already done. JIM Is that available anywhere? I'm trying to make some MADRG tiles with 3D ruins...... I think mounting them directly on the tiles will be best.

Still working on this, it's the end of the fiscal year here, concerts galore, neck deep in queens, and lots of gardening work afoot. While tilling my yard for the garden patch I found a length of co-axial cable a few inches beneath the surface and decided to cut it as I have satellite not cable tv...turns out that was my phone line....and my dsl. So very limited access to the net for me. I have loads of free time next week and my lines should all be reconnected (this time around the garden patch, not through it) so I can start posting updates on projects again.

That is rough, Squirmydad. I know I have done some pretty idiotic things like that myself. Most notably twisting a fuel line instead of the filter attached to it (metal pipes don't untwist!). I feel your pain. At least you'll have it out of the garden and out of your way for the future.

Once I drained the transmission fluid from my truck instead of the oil. Then I couldn't get the darn refill plug to loosen up and open so I had to go inside and pull the gear shift out of the floor mount and just refill the trannie by pouring it in the top. Potatoes are in the ground and I'm back on-line.

Seven years later...seven years?!?! Sheesh. I have no idea why I didn't release this ages ago. When I heard the theme idea for Forum Horde #138, All Things Irish, I remembered this old stones project. I dug around on the backup drive and there it was. I modded the obelisks a bot for FH138, the rest just needed a nice layout for pdf's and here it is; onemonk.com/squirmydad-dl.html

These are great - thanks a lot!
Just a quick question - in the Monoliths-bases2.pdf file only two sides of each base are textured. How are they supposed to be used? Print the file twice, build four corners from the bases and combine them into one large base?

That's how I interpreted it. Those would be the corners of the bigger structure. bases1 would be the center pieces for the bottom layer. bases2 the corners

Good to know that people are enjoying them.

It was right after MelEbbles released his interlocking ground tiles that I came up with the idea for these. I originally posted them at Paperworlds2, which then became the Papermakeit free download section, so it's been a minute. Or two.

Can I throw these in here? It's a "molten earth" texture I did for the bases for my "Demon Lords" figures. I then played with the edges to get it fairly tile-able. The base tile is not very big on A4 at 300 dpi, but I'm sure someone could play with it. Here is the base tile: And here's what it looks like tiled 2x2:

Sure, those are cool. I remember when I started the Alien tiles project it was because I wanted to see more variety in ground tiles, instead of just different grasslands.
