I finally finished my first batch of 28mm WWII Russian infantry, here I have enough to at least play Five Men In Normandy. Behind is my papercraft ZIS-5. And behind that is a whole bunch of papercraft scenery, including that there rickshaw...

You know, it wouldn't be too hard to do the 6X, if you want me to whip it out

At first glance, I would think the Type 95 would be easiest, but then there's that grill ...
The Type 94 looks like another Autocar knock-off, like the Zis and several other military trucks. I'm not sure what that rail is above the bed, but if I find good front and rear views, I should be able to get one of those done before the weekend is over.

I am surprised there aren't very many photos of this beast. It has some wonky elements that modelers exaggerate. But maybe they do that so that folks know what they are supposed to see.
I was surprised that I saw none of these with duallies. I noticed another image similar to the one you posted of the Type 94 with the odd pivoting suspension between the two rear axles. I haven't seen that on any of the photos. The sides of the cab also aren't straight, and some folks make the C-pillar go back at a weird angle. From the photos, it may angle slightly, but not much (if at all). It's the doors that are on the angle...

Vermin King , really I'm not looking for a scale model, just something that makes a good approximation of what it should be. These are meant as background scenery for wargames, not even parts of the forces (except in my solo FiveCore games, but really you know what I started with for that lol!) My local wargaming group is doing Manchuria 1945 with Bolt Action right now, so I am looking for WW2 Soviet and Japanese vehicles just to park around the tabletop to add some flavor. We have too much European scenery (and a TARDIS) for my taste, so I am trying to dress it up a little more theater-specific. I actually spent the afternoon kitbashing chinese houses from WWG brick buildings with lightning 's roofs, I hope to have them built next week. EDIT: speaking of scale models, I measured the length of the ZIS-5 and it is exactly 1:56 scale. Well done, sir.

Do we have a clue what color this should be? Or do we just trust the artists who have done art and models?

Granted, most of the photos are of models, but there's a diarrhea brown and a medium light gray that pops into the mix. So I wasn't sure which was proper

I think I might have enough material (questionable) to give it a go tonight. I do want to try to get the doors tapered towards the hood, which means altering the geometry a tad (and remembering to adjust the running board). But I don't think it should be too bad. That seems to me to be the biggest hint that it is the Isuzu Type 94. And swap the grill, and put the star on the headlight bracket. Adjusting the bed should be easy, adding the extra axle. Adding the extra axle really doesn't add much length to the bed, so a lot of the Zis-5 geometry should carry over. Really this post is just a reminder to myself of things that need to be incorporated. I wonder what is in those boxes behind the door on the running board, in front of the rear fenders. I first thought 'tool boxes', but they don't have latches and handles, so I doubt that is what they are

I tried to change too much in one go From the overhead views, the side of the hood and the doors are on the same plane. On some of the photos this is very obvious, others not as much What is obvious in the photos is that the rear axles are much closer than indicated in drawings and models of the vehicle. The roof also has a considerable slope towards the front. My errors came from trying to adjust the cab front and doors AND the roof all at one time. I at least know what needs done

Vermin King, I really can't thank you enough for working on this. You really are very good at the analysis and design of these kinds of things. Thank you

I'm down to two more bugs, and the fold-overs are glued, but not cut out. I'd really hoped to work on this tonight. Probably best to hit it with a clear head tomorrow
I did go back and play with this a bit. To do what I want to do with the door/hood/cab alterations, it will require breaking up the cab into an extra part. I've mentioned it before, but sometimes it makes an easier build if you aren't as concerned with number of parts as much as ease of construction. I think the easiest way to do it is with the door/hood side/running board for each side as separate parts. I think I will try it tomorrow
