Starting with the requested docks I have some first texturing to show.
The base texture is just the plain boards but you can show optional poles (top view, for easy build) and some metal rings where you want to tie your boat to.
For the advanced build where you actually make some poles you would cut out the textured poles area and insert the built poles. More on that later.
As with the houses, I have a "stuff" layer where I have now put the rope coils. Any other items that could be found on a dock?

For the ships I have planned later this year I need cannons!
I made this quick prototype of a ship cannon some time ago, just to get the size right.
Tonight I tried to refine it a little. I made the gun barrel a simpler 8-sided version. Also tried out to some (later optional) decoration of the barrel.
The wheels have to be at least 16-sided to look good. These are not convincing :-) The wooden parts need to be reinforced to make more believable.
Is the usage of toothpicks or matchstick for the mounting of the barrel a problem or would that be acceptable for a build? Making these out of paper is a little bit fiddly.
I think, once this is textured it should look very good. What do you think? Is it simple enough?

Many folks use bobby pins to hold walls together. Toothpicks are often used to hold banners and things, so I think this is a very acceptable solution

Updated cannon, the advanced version.

I have textured the cannon. This is the advanced version but it is not that hard to assemble. I will have to compare build time once I have the easy version done. But until then, enjoy the paper cannon!
As usual, more pics on the Patreon :-)

At this size, the eight-sided wheels are fine. Hand-cutting 16-sided wheels is going to be difficult. Me? I just use scissors and try to cut as round as possible o.0 I am a multi-media modeller and I break the rules, so toothpicks are good by me

I agree, I like round wheels. I would also have prefer rolling paper for the barrel rather than folding an octagon (or whatever.)
Maybe I am not really seeing the scale of your pictures, but the "tooth pick" looks a lot thicker than the ones I have in my drawer.
BTW if you want specific diameters of "dowel" you can instruct your customers to roll up enough of the off-cuts to make a solid cylinder and then give them a "skin" and some end caps to glue on. If your layout is "cutter friendly" there is plenty of margin paper to make use of.

Both the wheels and the cannon barrel are so small that if you turn the fold marks off you can just roll (the barrel) and cut (the wheels) round. I can try a round barrel on one of the next ones. As I have mounted the wheels on 1mm paper I hand cut with the knife and there it is easier - for me at least - to converge to the "round" curve. I guess you could also use rounded scissors, but in my experience, esp with thicker paper, the paper starts to warp. The toothpicks I use are 2mm in diameter. But the cut marks on the barrel are flexible, so you can adjust to thinner or thicker ones. I am not sure what dowel is here. Is this the 2mm?
I think the layout is cutter friendly although in my experience pages with a lot of small parts I rather cut by hand, as the cutter likes to mess up. Regarding margin paper, I have a layout with parts for 4 cannons as I guessing one might need more than one cannon. Maybe I need a single cannon page too?

Yes, I guess I meant the 2mm toothpick. I just measured my toothpicks and they are 2mm too. So, carry on!
I do all my cutting by hand, but it seems to me people who use cutters need comparatively big margins.

Need a Bronze toned version, as up until the 19th century muzzle loading cannon were more typically cast in bronze than iron.
Great work by the way!

Sure! I am always ready to extend my texture library. I have been working on rust a while ago but it was plain industrial metal plates. Nothing fancy like a swivel gun.

Fold flat anyone? Yes, I have succeeded in squashing the cannons
This is the simple, easy build with fold-flat option.
And here is the poor thing crushed to the ground ... (can also be used for destroyed cannons )
The gun carriage part has a flap in the back which is inspired by the wedge that controls the angle of the barrel. It has the function to keep the wooden part in shape once assembled.
See the fully detailed model for comparison.

For those who want to use it, here is an album of my bronze swivel gun that people can feel free to use for texture references. This is an actual late 16th-early 17th century swivel gun, bronze with brass inlays ( as a lot of bronze cannons were) and with the correct length to bore ratio for earlier bronze cannon. This is the appearance of a bronze artillery piece in actual field use, as opposed to all polished up for a parade. I figured I would post a link to the album as the pictures are quite large. A link to more pictures: Bronze Swivel Gun
And the shiny part on this touchhole cap lug is the color of a polished piece:

While I am busy with getting the fences and cannon ready for the release I am developing the ships line in breaks. Here is a first test build of a textured docks segment (easy build) and a white build prototype of a rowing boat! The boat is a refined version of a boat I made 2015 (see here). I made it a little longer and also changed the way I do the sitting areas. Will be much easier now. Looking forward to textured the boat with my new wood versions :-)

I'm really digging that rowboat! Thanks :-) The old one looked to much "comic" style to me. I think it looks more real now. If this goes well, I will try a longer jolly boat version of a rowing boat.

I have made 8 carriages so far. This is my "production line". To get the wheels at the same height I have created a little bar on which I can rest the carriage while gluing the wheels on ....
And here are the 8 completed carriages!
So during the next days I will start making the gun barrels.

Conversion of my old boat model to a new shape and texture.
From this ...
... to this!
This is the first and smallest of the new boats I want to do. Next will be a "longboat" version of a jollyboat.
