I am finished with the scenery for my Manchukuo 1945 project. There were some other things I wanted to add, but not all of it turned out right. First up, the Village. Intact buildings for a street scene, and lots of vehicles as cover or objectives. Next up are the ruins. A nice little bombed out area of a city, or can be interspresed with the village buildings above. I evolved my style while I was making these, in the back you can see just the walls glued to the bases, then I began adding the ruined floors and then the black sand and gravel as well. I may go back and update the older ones at some point. Finally, we have the scatter terrain, just things to add to the scene and maybe provide some cover or obstacles. Lots of burning stuff to really bring the idea of "active warzone" to life. I haven't included the non-papercraft items. I have some stands of trees, a batch of civilian casualties for more "active warzone" atmosphere, some more vehicles... but this is a papercrafting forum

Ouch! The Kurogane came out that bad??? Unfortunately yes. Nothing wrong with the template, just my assembly skills I will probably give it another try, as I *really* wanted it on the table, and you and I put a lot of work into making it happen. But I've tried three times now and I just can't seem to make it work.

I'm sorry. Would you want me to do a side-by-side build with you? When do you need it by?

I'm sorry. Would you want me to do a side-by-side build with you? When do you need it by? I know *how* to build it, I just can't get my fingers to work right lol! Ideally, I need it by September, I think. That's when our next big game is.

Okay, once I get this Hoard situated, I'll do a detailed build with you of this. Did you want tan or green?

I was beat after doing some tree trimming last night, so having zero energy, I did some research on this conflict. Particularly, I was looking for period photos. I found lots of description, but few photos. Well, few that really gave me what I was looking for.
One recurring theme was that the puppet regime during the 1930s did a lot of 'modernization', kind of like USSR did in the Eastern Bloc nations, and to some extent what the Allies did following WWII.
What I think I'm getting at, is that your buildings fit. 20th century style, almost industrial-looking buildings with touches of Asian architecture. Whether or not these are 100% 'correct', you captured the feel well.

Thank you, Vermin King. I spent a lot of time researching it, saving pictures to the computer, etc. Even the little things, like trying to get the bus just right, contribute to the feel. In fact, I learned so much about the period that I cannot in good conscience play my Japanese army as "my" force any more, just as the opposition. Truly a terrible time.
