Before trying my hand at drawing paper miniatures, I was utilizing online images for my personal use in games. The first paper minis I made were for Eldritch Horror cultists. My ultimate goal is to create a Cultist faction for each Ancient One featured in the game. Western-themed miniatures were my next foray with photo-sourced paper minis. I've also created image-based figures for prehistoric games and some, though not yet colored, for Frostgrave.
Prehistoric minis for games such as Tusk and Palaeo Diet: Eat or Be Eaten
I have a thing for clerics and cultists. Both character types are interesting, sinister, cool, and fanatically devoted, loyal and faithful to their cause. In that regard, I have a lot of fun 'collecting' cultist images for use as paper minis for use in Eldritch Horror. The game features a generic-stat Monster token because their characteristics are unique to the Ancient One they worship. I think that's enough to warrant a faction for each AO. I've probably a dozen factions completed, but only a handful properly photographed:
@h_E_H, do you use construction paper on the back? And it looks like you edge with marker?
20lb copy paper glued to comic book backing board colored on back and edges with a black wedge-tipped Sharpie pen. I recently came into possession a bunch of nice scrapbooking paper. That stuff is thick and I plan to use it to back figures.
Always nic eto see others use a similar approach Lately, I've been using a lot of 3D models from vi
Cherno, I love your b&w noir cityscape. Very impressive! I'll look into 3D models from video games. Neat idea. Except for growing collection of cultists, I no long cut out figures as tightly anymore as it's just too time-consuming. If I have idle time, I may pull out a set of figures constructed quickly and cut them a little more tightly.
I like how the photo-sourced, hand-colored figures I created turn out. They remind me a bit of comic artist, Richard Corben's style of illustrating color comics (airbrush, I think...)

Coyotepunc: I've been dealing with a variety of covid-19 symtpoms since January, except for the fever (12% of cases have no fever.) My kid woke up with almost all the symptoms including high fever today.
