The theme for this month's HOARD is Off the Map This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of March, 2019. Meso/South America, Jungle, and Explorers, Pirates, Strange Beasties and Lost Civilizations It can be off a fantasy map or sci fi map even. Conquistadors, sailors, native population, native beasties and plants. The lost temple, the city of gold, Atlantis, pirate boom towns, king of your own island, huts, palaces, and the list goes on. Have fun!

I had a look at the Disney Peter Pan set yesterday, after it was highlighted on Papermau. The main snag I can see is everything is one-sided, and the ship is just what you see - the stern plate, part of one side, a segment of deck, and a background mast group. It would take a lot of work to make into a useful 3D model suitable for the Hoards, I fear.

The Hallmark Peter Pan ship (if you can find it) would be a better choice for a model, but the graphics here are much better

Great looking model, but the downloads from the Disney site seem VERY slow. The PDF "Parts" file for the model is 65 MB, but took two attempts and - finally - ten minutes to crawl in here. The separate PDF Instructions file is only 35 MB, so just took about five minutes... Nice touch is the rigging diagrams in the PDF Parts file for anyone who wants to make the rigging from thread - note that papercraft parts are provided for ALL elements of this model as well. Terrifyingly, the Parts file is only 26 pages long but the Instructions file runs to 66 pages! However, the Instructions do seem to be VERY well and clearly illustrated in black-and-white, which is a nice ink-saving touch. Not so sure about the list of Optional Tools on the Disney webpage for the model, which includes an electric drill. That's some tough paper they're using

Ok, I'm probably only getting one of these done. I'm so sorry I was working on the second one and apparently my design and adaptation skills have gone to dog poop. The third one, well, I've been working on that since the Halloween Horde, and still haven't got it working right. The fourth was going to be like the first and second, but given the failure of #2, I'm not going to bother right now. I'll try to have my single entry up tomorrow sometime.

What better way to explore Off The Map than by motorcycle? When I started this month's project, I had planned on three different motorcycle styles, each in a few different colors. The other two didn't work out at all. This one here isn't great, and I haven't even properly recolored it at all. I'm not at all happy with it, but I seem to have lost my motorcycle mojo somewhere along the way. There is always Dryw's Imperfect Motorcycles if y'all want something nice.

A quick call out to anyone interested, there is still time to do some re-colors on this bad boy. Let's see how many we get in before they close this up all official like.

Shoot. I'm down to two parts on the Vernors Wagon and don't have the energy or concentration to finish it up. But I'm recuperating. Just going slower than I'd hoped

I had some trouble with this, so I made a white version which would be easier to recolor. Not great, but here's the blank and my recolor and the original

Over lunch, I was going to work on another repaint, but I noticed a bunch of artifacts crept back in on the blank bike. So, I fixed them again ... until they come back Maybe I'll have a break this afternoon and come back to it

I made this miniature out of a larger model of a pteranodon I downloaded several years ago for my son. The original model is quite detailed and has several parts and a wingspan of around 8". If anyone knows the original artist of the model, please let me know. After inserting the wings through the mouth it must be glued back into a more natural position because making the bend tends to open it up a bit, bit it looks fine afterwards. I recommend mounting it on a 35mm or 40mm stand that has been thickened-up or weighted a bit because it is quite top-heavy and catches every stray breeze. Use it if you can. - Er, sorry, missed it by a long shot.
