I've come to my wits end, not necessarily because I'm bad at drawing paper minis. Nah, I'm just bad at humies. So before I go down a dark road, wondering whether I should or shouldn't commission someone, I've decided to just ask this. How much would a well-done unit of paper minis cost to commission? By unit, I mean at least 3 different minis for the same troop. And yes, I'm talking about basic infantry, no huge behemoths or anything. So if you can give me your honest opinion, or at best give me what you require, that would be greatly appreciated. As I am still in high school, I can't pay for much, but I do want to be aware of what options I have, at least for the future.

Have you already searched the forum, if any of the minis in existence perhaps already meet your needs?
What exactly do you need?

Shep, I am trying to make this a business, so while I may use them for now, I will not be able to use them when I go professional. I need art for each of my units, it doesn't have to be extravagant, but it needs to get the job done. The artist would need to be there for a while because there's a lot of factions that need to be done. I'm not sure how else to describe it.

Good artists are going to charge good money. I would seriously consider just plugging away at it yourself, you have the skill and you will get faster with practice. tomoko worked for a decade to bring his "Steel Warriors" game to market, but he did it and it is huge and looks awesome!!

If you want some context for cost, www.patreon.com/maximumminiatures (currently on hiatus), has a Patreon pledge tier for $150 where they will make you ONE miniature per month with full control over specifics of the mini. www.patreon.com/RedcapMiniatures has a $30 tier that offers a small set of custom minis to backers at that level each month, but I suspect that those backers are more limited in customized options.

If you're going to want full control over the design of the mini and also want to have the exclusive rights to distribute them and the art then you can expect to be paying well over $200 a mini. If it's a long term project, then you may want to just hire an artist in a full time position because it'll work out cheaper that way.
