I've noticed some of the figures say 30mm, most have no scale listed. Should I consider this the norm and scale down to 28mm? What scales do most of our artists use?

Yes, Jim Hartman (site originator) figured that 2d figures needed a little "umph" to stand up beside 3d figs on the table so he went with 30 mm to the eye line. It was his party so we (mostly) played by his rules and now it is traditional/standard.

Couple of my players pointed out size differences over the few plastic/metal minis and asked scale. I didn't know except for the marked ones. Next batch I do, I may scale down and see if the player's approve...that is, if I cannot switch them over to 2D player minis....am trying on that front.

Don't exert too much pressure on that front. Show the potential. Mix them in when possible. Be happy with any and all progress.
