I modelled something like that for a WW2 Russian Front game; Minefields were denoted by markers like yours but it was a d6 roll that determined whether it was real or a dummy. Cool, the d6 would work as well. In fact if the rule set being used has different kinds of mines (Vehicle vs Anti-Personnel etc) then the d6 would be even better. I just figured it would be fun to play with. And I had to make the Warning signs to go with the fields of course.

This was from an Alt History WWIII type game we played several years ago.
