The theme for this month's HOARD is Welcome to the Jungle This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of October, 2019. Meso-America, the Amazon, India, Southeast Asia, Tasmania and the Heart of Africa. Ancient civilizations, unusual creatures and plants, ruins, relics, treasure troves... Prehistoric Dinos, Terror Birds and Megafauna. And don't forget the unusual religions and temples. This could be a great hoard! I know nothing about imbedded videos, but wouldn't Jungle Boogey be appropriate? Although in my head it's 'Jungle Buggy'...

I like the idea of the theme, but somehow I have a vision of a troll bouncer in front of "The Jungle", Seattle's latest addition to the club scene of 2075... (Or, in view of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game, an overcybered bouncer in front of Night City's newest club, which is also called "The Jungle" and by coincidence looks exactly the same... )

I had actually planned on mentioning 'Concrete Jungle' in my monologue, but got side-tracked with 'Jungle Buggy, Dadadah, dadadah' One possibility is doing a Jungle version of Wasteland Buggy #2 and a better version of the Jeeps I did for Zoe's Jurassic Christmas, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/8084/zoes-prehistoric-christmas. I keep looking at tomoko's vehicles, and I have three different ideas on how to have a more-realistic hood. Either that or I will do a Wasteland 2 Buggy and an extended cabin version. I'm thinking of doing some Megafauna like Zoe's dinos, too. Too many ideas, too little time

I should really stop having ideas at one-something a.m. just before going to bed. Once my brain is in motion, it won't stop, and thus I had a night full of gritty Cyberpunk shorts that slowly turned the diorama idea of a bouncer in front of a club into a full-blown playset of such a location that actually might be of use in any modern or near future tabletop game... And there is so little time in October with a short vacation coming up, the SPIEL '19 games fair in Essen at the end of the month, and the work I'll have to do till then – I really need to finish up some long-term projects, like a short solo adventure for Private Eye (an originally German detective RPG set in Victorian England), as well as creating a German Loop for Tales From The Loop, and writing-up a solid concept for a RPG based on the skirmish game Carnevale, so the IP holders can be persuaded into licensing the creation of said RPG... All of those being regular paid jobs, and you can never know what else might be lurking around the next corner. Such is the life of the freelancer... Anyway, here's what I will try to do: I plan on creating some kind of near-futuristic bar/lounge/club with a bar, a little dance floor, and a few tables in some kind of alcoves (for privacy). There will be some kind of second level, holding a space for the DJ or a band and an office for the manager, with a staircase leading up there, and there will of course be some restrooms, since you can't enter a club in a cyberpunk game without an ensuing fight scene in the restrooms, now can you? This alone will be quite a project, but I think this will end up as some kind of scenery in a shoebox with the lid being the roof of the club, the box itself showing the outside and working as a scenery piece on the table, and at the same time doubling as storage for the interiors and everything else you might wanna throw in there. However, this troll bouncer is still in my head, too. And for the first time in forever I might really be tempted to challenge my non-existing drawing skills, and sketch up that bouncer, so the set comes with aat least one mini. We'll see, how far that is gonna go. Quite cartoony, I'd guess, but yeah... I will try to get this done in October, but being relistic, this looks more likely to become a x-mas present for you folks... EDIT: I brought my basic idea to paper, so I won't forget the details I have in my head... As you can see, you basically enter the club onto the dancefloor, the bar is to the right, and the table area at the far wall. On a balcony one floor up is a DJ pumping the latest Chrome Rock into the rather small room, but a band could just as well play live music in that spot. Next to this area, the manager of the club has a small office. When you pass through the club towards the back wall, a small corridor will lead you to the emergency exit, as well as to the stairs up, and to the restroom. A dataphone is hanging on the wall of that corridor, and of course is someone jacked into that phone at any time, partially blocking the way to the restroom...

giant poisonous arrow frogs They're called poison dart frogs, and if there's one thing they don't need to be, it's giant... The average poison dose of just one Phyllobates Terribilis – also known as the golden poison frog, one of the most poisonous animals and the most poisonous frog on Earth (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_poison_frog) – will kill roughly 10,000 mice, or about 15 full-grown human beings. This little fella gets about 5 cm long, and produces about 1 mg poison per dose... Now, if this frog would become a giant with equally productive yet giant poison glands, there would be no other living being in the jungle...

Just stay away from 'bright and colorful' when you visit the jungle, since 'bright and colorful' generally is a sign of bad things to come

Fascinating fact about the lil' froggies... When not fed with their regular food of some certain types of ants, poison dart frogs loose their poison over time. The main ingridient of their poison is something in the ants' acid. PDFs (WHAHAHAAAA! ) born in custody usually are not poisonous at all.

I need to get organized, or I'll get nowhere... Went to the copyshop today and got the Space Race printed. So, when I finished that, most probably this coming weekend, I'll start with my version of The Jungle, like I explained above. Since this will involve creating a sturdy box, so the set can double as scenery piece as well as as storage box, the build will most likely involve either foamcore or corrugated cardboard. Most probably the latter, since I'm an upcycler by heart.

Shouldn't there be natives, shamen (shamans?), and ye old missionary in a pot? And a guerilla base, packed with rebels preparing to overthrow the current Generalissimo in power.
