Wish we could work out in advance how to better estimate which Hoard topics would work out so well as this one! Well done to all involved regardless!

Wish we could work out in advance how to better estimate which Hoard topics would work out so well as this one! Well done to all involved regardless! Well, if you can figure that out, let me know. This is a good reminder that I need to start getting ideas for the 2020 Hoards. If you remember, the past few years, I open the themes to considerable discussion, and try to pick and adjust to maximize input. But discussion interest does not always convert to submitted projects. Sometimes ideas don't turn into viable figures or terrain. Sometimes folks like the concept, but don't really have ideas on what to do. Sometimes real life gets in the way. Sometimes folks don't finish an idea because there are already a lot of ideas. Sometimes when things are 'light', submissions come in to make up the lack. But it sure is nice when things come together as well as this one.

Wish we could work out in advance how to better estimate which Hoard topics would work out so well as this one! Well done to all involved regardless! Well, if you can figure that out, let me know. Actually, I did go and examine the Hoards from the past five years via the One Monk "Downloads" link at the top of each Forum page before posting yesterday, but I couldn't really identify a common thread to the fuller Hoards. Some of the science-fiction Hoards seemed to be strongly-supported, but that maybe because there hadn't been all that much in the preceding years of that nature. Some Hoards look impressive, with several download links - such as the Circus this year and the "All Things Irish" Hoard in 2016 - but they turned out so well chiefly because of your own input Vermin King ! And some of the other strong Hoards also came down primarily to the work of just one or two people. Maybe it's better things work out as they have done though, so when we get a well-supported Hoard like this, it's a pleasant surprise, or perhaps (following our respective comments elsewhere on the CWF) I should say "bonus"

That's one of the reasons I try to get as much input as I can in setting up the Hoard lists. It just seems impossible to predict things, too many variables. In all honesty, I believe in Equity and Ownership (another long topic), and by getting the discussion going, I hope to generate ownership of the topics. No one wants to see something they own crumble and sink into the swamp
