Which begs the question -- what is your favorite Verne novel? Journey to the Center of the Earth, no doubt about it! (Although I always liked Five Weeks In A Balloon).

And that allows for Hollow Earth, Lost World, 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Lost World, Around the World in 80 Days, futuristic 20th Century Paris, the Moon, etc. I try to set these up as not too specific, but somewhat focused. Vernean-inspired still keeps things focused, while covering a lot of things. Which begs the question -- what is your favorite Verne novel? I think you forgot to mention "Lost World", which was the inspiration for the plateau lost in time idea. But as far as I remember, Lost World is by Doyle not by Verne (yet still the same basic genre)... One of my favorites among Verne's works is The Mysterious Island. I like how you really have to read on and on to solve the riddle who is helping the marooned cast...

Yeah, I should have remembered all the Brits. I did find my copy of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, though. It has been a long time since I read it

Novel: Journey to the Center of the Earth Movies: The Mysterious Island in it's many incarnations, except for the one with Dwayne Johnson. I like Dwayne Johnson, just not that version of the story. I think the Omar Sharif version was the first one I saw and I own the 1961 Harryhausen version.

Well, with the PaperMau situation, we got away from the discussion here.
I'd like to nail down the Halloween Classic Monsters/Hunters idea, because I think it is close
I think we have enough thought expressed on Bar Brawl, so it will be included. I just don't know where, yet.
And on the Verne Birthday Hoard, how much do we want to roll some of these other topics into it?
I like several ideas presented, but need them fleshed out a bit
And there is always room for more ideas

So, I think we need Renaissance Warmachines in there, but I'm not having a clear vision of where it would lead, and maybe that is a good thing.
Bar Fight seems to be a natural. But where would we want it during the year?
I like the concept of Monsters and Monster Hunters for Halloween, but it needs fleshed out.
Help me to see some of these other ideas better

With nature reviving itself, Renaissance Warmachines are obviously perfect for March or April. I could see the Bar Fight in the vicinity of September or October, embeded in a little Oktoberfest mood... As for Monster Hunters, how about the direction of non-professional yet extremely dedicated hunters? Like the comic book shop brothers from "The Lost Boys", for example. Or like all those self-declared ghost hunters from the various "reality" TV shows. And in turn, the monsters could either be typical modern urban legend monsters like the Mothman, Sewer Mutants, the Black Monk ghost, etc. OR they could be badly dressed-up production crew from said TV shows or obviously faked stuff (like a tiny UFO hanging from a wire)...

As we seem to be okay with Renaissance Mecha and Bar Fight!, I think I will throw them in the list.
I am so far behind on this...

We have far more ideas than we have time for so we need to prioritise,
I would think Cyberpunk 2020 is a priority, being timely and it is 150 years since 20,000 Leagues (but Verne wrote other books so, in a pinch this could wait or his stuff could fit in other sci-fi catagories (or a Nautilus could be in "Lower Depths")
Alternate history easily includes Weird World War and Dieselpunk.
Hard Vacuum, Space Port and Solar System Colonisation conflate nicely.
Wasteland Survivors and Gamma World/Mutant futures could team up.
Venice Republic hit it's height during the time of Renaisance Warmachines.
I don't know why, but I think Cars of the Stars and Fantasy Pets would make a fun set.
PlaSeBuilMo is actually a project type that can be applied to any theme.

Thank you, cowboyleland, I try to figure out combinations, but every time I try to do that, my brain turns to mush. And since everything in Venice at that time was geared towards making a profit, the market could fit in with that idea, too. Only what I envisioned for my project won't fit for Venice, but that's okay. This whittles it down to seven topics, with six slots, well actually seven, since we'll be replacing Renaissance Warmachines with Renaissance Warmachines and Venetian Republic. Any other thoughts?

Mostly agree, the themes are suggestions that hopefully inspire creativity. I'd love January to be "All Things Verne" or "World of Verne" and pull ideas from all of his books.

I plugged them in, but far from set.
FH 184 January - Worlds of Verne FH 185 February - Bar Fight! FH 186 March - CyberPunk Forces FH 187 April - Renaissance Warmachines in Venice FH 188 May - Weird World War-Dieselpunk FH 189 June - Fantasy Pets FH 190 July - Hard Vacuum FH *** August - Papercuts 2020 FH 191 September - Halloween Monsters and Hunters FH 192 October - Wasteland Survivors/Gamma World Mutants FH 193 November - Cars of the Stars FH 194 December - Hoard of the Procrastinators
Titles need work. Until I read up a bit today, I was very ignorant of the Cyberpunk series. I still think some of the themes need more fleshing out

FH 184 January - Worlds of Verne >> sounds cool, got some ideas (although there may be time issues - you know ski-time:)
FH 185 February - Bar Fight! >> YEP!
FH 186 March - CyberPunk Forces >> big, funny and challenging topic - got MANY ideas already!
FH 187 April - Renaissance Warmachines in Venice >> ?!? Err... forget - just don't get the idea - maybe some more descriptions would be helpful?
FH 188 May - Weird World War-Dieselpunk >> Oh YES, YES!!!
FH 189 June - Fantasy Pets >> hmm, dunno, well... perhaps... OK
FH 190 July - Hard Vacuum >> ?!? WTF - leave /skip?
FH *** August - Papercuts 2020 >> simply forget!
FH 191 September - Halloween Monsters and Hunters >> kinda repetitive song but let it be...
FH 192 October - Wasteland Survivors/Gamma World Mutants >> YES, sounds very tempting/interesting!
FH 193 November - Cars of the Stars >> c'mon WHAT???
FH 194 December - Hoard of the Procrastinators >> ?...

Cars of the Stars would be something I would latch onto, but we don't have that many 'vehicle' designers here right now. At least we haven't had that many submissions. Frankly, I'd be shying away from movie/tv cars and come up with cars from other galaxies. Halloween Monsters and Hunters needs more details. Hard Vacuum is deep space. As I mentioned earlier, Fantasy Pets scares me as not inspiring enough to help spur ideas, but I could be wrong. This is why we need more discussion

Fantasy Pets and Familiars opens the category to all manner of magical creatures that would accompany an Adventurer. Cyberpunk 2020 Can be all sorts of transhuman dystopian future figures, near future vehicles and buildings, or representations of cyberspace. Infinity style games would also fall under here. There are some great terrain ideas that I saw in Tommygun's old "Ironworks" thread; www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?304880-Tommygun-IronworksVerne is a huge topic that can be giant insects, giant fungi, sea creatures, balloons, submersibles, ships and crews and drowning sailors. Cars of the Stars...I have no idea for this one and I know it doesn't appeal to me.

I changed titles on Fantasy Pets and Hard Vacuum. On Verne, it can go so much further than that. I think the request for Cars of the Stars was a request for more of my tv/movie cars, so if someone would like to promote one of the other ideas, I am very open to it. Like I said, these are not set. By the way, I think I may do a better model of the Tesla Cybertruck for Cyberpunk 2020. At PM.com there have been two threads on it, and I have yet to see a model that I couldn't do better, www.papermodelers.com/forum/civilian-wheels/44704-tesla-cybertruck-paper-model.html
