I certainly didn't mean with kids. Way too twisted. For adults who like twisted

I just meant paper with a gingerbread and candy texture Ah, you mean for a christmas game or something along that line. That could be an interesting thing for games with kids, IF Carnevale (or other games set in Venice) would be suitable for kids... I fear, however, that with the somewhat Lovecraftian background story and especially with the monsters of the Rashaar faction, and the mostly immoral motivations of the other factions, Carnevale is better not being played by kids younger than 14. And players older than that might find Candy-Venice a little bit off for Rokoko horror... You could always make edible adversaries;

It could really work, if you based them right EDIT-- Trying to work out how the capital could fit on the column of my old North Pole, The square base shouldn't be a problem, but getting the pyramid shape to slide over the column is a bit problematic BTW, they think they may have found the third column that fell into 'the pool' during off-loading. It would have been in the middle between these two columns. The guy who figured out how to off-load these two was granted a special favor. The favor he asked for and received was to run gaming tables between the columns, an outdoor casino. It was too popular, that's why they started executing folks in the middle of it. A gibbet and dead bodies seems to have reduced the fervor for gaming

Well, I talked to an agent today who had a trip to Italy since we last talked. Yes, he went to Venice. When asked what he considered to be the number one landmark, he responded Rialto Bridge. Sent him a photo of the 7-inch version, and he wants it. And that was just the enlargement of the postcard model. New inspiration to do my own 2-foot long version, with better graphics. I'm thinking that I will either need to do an inner arch piece or formers on the big version
Also found other views of Theodoro and the Winged Lion

I think there is something else missing that ought to be represented, but I don't see in any of the site's photos. Churches. They have a Vatican faction, but I see no churches. Considering how many churches there were, it seems odd. I read somewhere, that during each of the plagues, the rich would build plague churches. This is on top of all the regular churches. One source says there were at least 287 of these. I can't see me attempting to do one of the major churches, but I might try to do one of those small churches. Something like Monica's from edificiosdepapel.blogspot.com/search/label/Iglesia (I hope they are doing well. I wish their models were still available on DepositFiles) Not far from the Rialto Bridge is Santa Maria della Fava Under Napolean many of the churches were razed or put to more mundane purposes, like warehouses. Many of the decommissioned churches are wrapped by other structures, like Santa Sofia near Ca' d'Oro. Just an idea EDIT -- Mike Stamper sent some interesting links to Italian site paper models www.feltrinellieditore.it/opera/opera/meraviglie-ditalia-da-costruire---il-ponte-di-rialto/#descrizionewww.formacultura.it/categoria-prodotto/3dpc/page/3/

Now that you ask... No, I actually didn't, and I wonder why. It might be because I never came 'round to build the large version of the palazzo with rear house and backyard. I should really do that and finally release the PDFs...

Available for download SOON-ish... I just have to put together the intructions... EDIT: Actually, I can give you the easy version with only the front part of the palazzo right now. The parts on the last two pages are reinforcements to be glued front to back into the building. You fold the big part over in the middle, and then glue the flaps one to the front of the palazzo, and one to the back (on the inside of the house!). Make sure, the middle part is exactly vertical. If not, you will have trouble folding the palazzo flat. Also, the ridges on which the roof rests, are glued to the (lower) beginning of the roof decoration, not the (upper) end. This will give the roof more stability. Download: www.dropbox.com/s/w7vv433ttau146y/Carnevale%20-%20Casa%20Rosata%20%28easy%29.pdf?dl=0

I've gotta get back to my Rialto Bridge. Your palazzo looks really good. I had thought of doing the Ca' d'Oro in white still, but the Rialto Bridge (and maybe a church) will probably take any and all available time

Don't rush it, take your time... And me, I love it when a plan comes together! The palazzo folded flat... ...and in its box.

To be honest, so far, I had no time to play. However, I managed to paint some more minis. Those originally come from various other games and product lines, but since you can download all character cards for Carnevale for free, these minis can be perfectly used as stand-ins for some of the characters. Oh, and I downloaded Mauther's palazzo, but had no time to print and assemble it, so far...

I don't think the engineers of the building were thinking about how difficult it would be to do models of it when they built it

Last night, I finally had an idea about how to build a fully modular, mostly fold-flat palazzo with playable interior. The various levels will be simple boxes with open ceiling and removable floors, so they can fold flat. In between the level, I will insert a connector piece that looks like a stucco element from the outside and has a ledge on the inside. It will slide over the top of the lower level, then you insert the next level into the connector, so it sits on the inner ledge and above the lower level.
This way, I can essentially build palazzi as high as I like. I just need to have enough connectors. The roof will also be just set into a connector, I can add roof gardens and terraces, and even balconies could be slotted onto the connecting pieces...
I think this system would work best as a layered PDF with all the windows, doors, floors, wallpapers, and colors being options to turn on and off. And basically, this system should work for any box-shaped building in any time era (modern, sci-fi, medieval, etc.)...

So, since I cannot constantly force my wife to play Carnevale with me (yeah, we finally did), I had to come up with some other solution... and tortured Photoshop, once again. I present: An AI-Deck for playing Solo-Carnevale: bit.ly/3ewdfnKThis is the German version, but I'll translate it sometime soon... EDIT: Done! bit.ly/2RQ2uTvAnd I already found a typo...

Are the tiles in your photos official for Carnevale? Or tiles that you chose to personally use?

Are the tiles in your photos official for Carnevale? Or tiles that you chose to personally use? Those tiles come with the sarter box. You get pretty much for the 65 GBP TTCombat charges: two 100 ducats starter gangs (Guild vs. Rashaar), 9 1x1 ft. tiles with canals on one side and open water on the other, 8 two-storey buildings (fold-flat boxes) and 8 one-storey buildings, 6 cardstrips that are supposed to be bridges, a set with 12d10 (7 to 10 in red, 10 shows the Venetian lion), markers, character cards, acrylic ruler and templates for beam and explosion, the rules book (almost 300 pages, mostly fluff and spectacular art), a gondola, and some other stuff. I'd say this starter sports the best price to content ratio in the tabletop world... ttcombat.com/collections/carnevale/products/carnevale-2-player-starter-boxHowever, you'd have to search for a place to shop it, as TTCombat closed their warehouse due to the pandemic. I'd recommend this shop: www.dropzone-commander.de/dzc-shop/index.htmJust open the Carnevale section in the menu on the left. They don't have all the stuff, but most. MDF-buildings for the game can be found in the same shop under "Gelände > TTCombat > Streets of Venice"...

I was hoping that these were of your design so I could ask to use them for the Rialto wharf. I guess I will have to find a texture that is similar. I suppose that I need to use the Venetian Lagoon textures to blend in, not Grand Canal

They have canals in their Medieval Docks Map set that might be useful to you. Perhaps they would not mind you using the map textures... www.drivethrurpg.com/product/261820/Docks-and-Canals-Modular-MapTiles-COTBSOther than that idea, I only have this but I cannot remember where I found it...
