The theme for this month's HOARD is Bar Fight! This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of February, 2020. Is there a theme that transcends all genres like the bar fight? Ancient Rome, Fantasy, Old West, Victorian Age, any and all Wars, Gangsters, Modern Era, near future, distant future, distant galaxies. I hope that folks have been coming up with ideas since the idea first came up. This could be a great one. Fighters, props, bystanders, tilesets, buildings. Have fun!

There's two dnd npc's from an old campaign that I wanted to make, they were specialists in barroom brawls, not terribly useful in a dungeon though. I also think I need a cowboy and a belligerant alien who's wanted in five systems.

Back during the Circus Hoard, I got carried away and did not do my homage to Sergio Toppi that I wanted to do. Toppi did the Saloon with personages for Corriere dei Piccoli (in 1965, I think) and other Tutto sul West collections. Pioneers, Sheriffs and Villains, American Indians, Frontier and other little sets, including a rodeo. Pictured above, as a 3d render of the 'il Saloon' set by Mauther, is a backdrop done by Toppi. I hope to do a remake of this as a larger saloon with 3d props. I had a huge collection of Toppi creations on the old computer, and I will have to find decent copies, but that's my plan anyway
I haven't gotten to the files I am looking for, but I think going through the Corrierino e Giornalino blog, I finally got to a good lead, corrierino-giornalino.blogspot.com/search/label/tutto%20sul%20west?max-results=2EDIT -- Got it, did some cleaning and squaring, and realized I don't have to shrink it much. Tomorrow I will work on getting measurements to match up and come up with a floor tile. The Sceriffi e banditi file has fronts for a saloon, the marshall and a bank. I'm going to adjust the files so the saloon front can go with the interior, hopefully Way back on the Japan Hoard, I was almost getting 'fair' at doing backs, so I hope to do backs for some of these folk, make some tables, some props and try to keep 'creativity' out of it. I want it to look like Sergio Toppi designed it

22 feet X 25 feet ( 6 meters by 7 meters roughly) isn't much room. I might have to tweak it somewhat. Well, tweaking is necessary, even if I just use the exterior saloon and the interior side wall, but to make it bigger, it would require even more tweaking. Also, the interior is for a single-floor, but the exterior has two floors, unless the windows in the false front are actually false windows. My main goal is to make this usable for gaming, but keep it looking like Mr. Toppi designed it the way I change it. Could be fun

Going to need some exterior stairs to reach the upper floor too, though from the Papermau "assembled" shot, it looks like that version was done as just a single storey - skylights have been cut into the ceiling piece (and the lamp's been doubled-up there to make it four-armed as well). I guess the Saloon, Marshall's office and Bank were just storefronts originally though. And the full set of figures would make for quite a crowd in the Saloon - no wonder a fight's broken out...

I'm still trying to work out what needs changed. The interior walls would reach to the middle of the windows on the Saloon storefront, so definitely needs to be changed. I also debated on making the extensions wider, but I think I need to add space between the windows and door instead. I originally planned on having the bar run along the left as you enter, but that would not make sense with the exterior extensions, so it will require some thought I want to separate out figures to actually have tables with figures sitting around them. Also want to have the wooden sidewalk that goes partially across the front, with an actual bench and hitching post separate. I'm starting to think I need to do a bit of thinking and planning, or else this won't be able to be done. I probably can't do all I want to do anyway, in the time frame, but I want to spend time towards what can be done, not on things that can't be EDIT -- This is turning into quite a puzzle to put Toppi artwork into new dimensions. As I envision this, I still want to keep the bar to the left, which means the extensions on either side of the storefront need to be raised, as well as the section above the door and below the windows. Those windows will be close to the floor, which is something seen in Joe Kidd, High Plains Drifter, Shanghai Noon, Wild Wild West and from the hotel across the street from the Butterfield Stage Station in Cole Camp, Missouri. Second floor ceiling will be low, but I'm not sure I will be modeling that. wyvern suggested exterior stairs, which I think would look odd with those extensions, so I plan on having rather steep stairs at the back. Probably no balcony, just disappearing into the ceiling. Not sure what to do with the wall opposite the bar. I really would like to keep the boardwalk that goes partially across the front of the exterior. The interior doors are almost the same size as this one, but that would mean raising the floor inside. I am thinking foamcore. The boardwalk would have to be raised slightly to be the correct height, but that means I can have the boardwalk and the floor at the same level. I will have to create a completely new interior wall to match the dimensions of the exterior wall. I am thinking of having the Soffitto over the bar, but the rest of the ceiling open. There will be a rear door on the landing to the stairs. It isn't a plan yet, but it is getting there EDIT #2 -- I wish there was more textured surface from the extensions to do the side walls, but I might take textures from some of his other buildings. I'd already planned on taking a door from another of his projects to be the back door for this. I also realized I made a mistake. I started rescaling portions of the parts individually. I really should have saved my work page as a separate document before monkeying with things. My work page had each of the elements cleaned and squared. I also need to figure out the roof elements. There isn't much room between the top of the second story windows and the top of the false-front. Having a flat roof that slopes to the rear would really make a low ceiling at the back. A peaked roof would not have enough slope to allow rainwater to flow off. Hmmm Also, the figures work out to 1.5 inches tall on average, so they will need to be reduced

Trying to get a rough handle on where I need to get to, I started a very rough plan for this. I haven't worked out the back, yet. I am picturing an offset extension on the back for the stairs, which will go up from the main floor along the exterior wall on the inside, but will double back further inside to reach the second floor roughly under the peak of the roof, with a hall that goes between the two small upstairs rooms
