Some modelers don't "finish the box" - leaving "bottoms" off their boxy paper models, such as bookshelves. This makes them weak and likely to collapse when stored, and also don't allow for any means to "attach" them to a floor/map (using, say repositionable adhesive dots.) There's one set that I truly love (that has this flaw) from long time modeler and contributor to Cardboard Warriors: eddnicminipapermodels.blogspot.com/2012/06/hero-quest-style-furniture-for-your.html I use his bookshelves (and other pieces) over, and over again... Sure enough, they are too flimsy for storage and reuse, but I'm too busy to rebuild them (and have the same thing happen...) so I came up with a super easy means to repair/improve the already build pieces. Just cut out some thick black cardstock (white will work), score/emboss appropriately, and insert. Glue if you want (I did.) This adds weight, removes wrinkles, and provides a surface to attach to the floor, if so desired. I know its TOO easy, but I drug my feet for 8 years...

LOL! I was about to post the first page of the Portico Arch for the Rialto Bridge. I was debating over whether to leave open, have tabs on each of the sides, or make each side closed at the bottom. I do believe I will close out the bottom of the box now. Your timing is exemplary EDIT -- Better?

Thin corrugated card workes well too - but make sure to cut it with the corrugations running at an angle, such as 45°, so that it reduces the chance of the card bending. I usually use this type of card for most models that are large and boxy, such a buildings. The only photo I seem to have to show this is of a couple of APCs I made a few years back: Also, reinforcing corners with little triangles of the same card, or blobs of hot-glue or PVA glue will add to the strength.
