Cardboard Warriors! Are you ready for a Papercrafter's showdown?!
At the link above, you will find a full video of a 9th Age: Essence of War game played on TableTopSimulator this last weekend between myself and Antohammer (whom you all know, of course!) and hosted by the ever-gracious Piteglio from Veil of the Ages.
For anyone not familiar, 9th Age is a rank&file (AKA: rank&flank) fantasy wargame that filled the void left by Warhammer when Games Workshop made the change to Age of Sigmar and round bases (boooo!). 9th Age: Essence of War is the Quick Play/Starter version of the more comprehensive Fantasy Battles rules.
This Papercrafter v. Papercrafter matchup has Anto playing his VERY FIRST game of 9th Age with the Kingdom of Equitaine, represented by his own beautiful Japanese themed paper mini designs. His designs have featured heavily on the VotA channel recently, as we have just recently finished up playtesting with the Kingdom of Equitaine patrol.
You can browse the channel's recent videos for more games with Anto's designs, as well as my own. I played my own Human Empire designs, which represented the Empire of Sonnstahl, which we are playtesting right now. (playtesting is progressing with one faction at a time, with matchups against each of the other released armies in succession).
I would invite anyone else who is interested in playing a game on TTS to PM me here, and we'll make it happen. ZERO experience necessary, but a familiarity with wargames, maybe a little knowledge of old-school Warhammer can't hurt. Piteglio and I can walk you through every step of the game, and Piteglio also won't hesitate to give you advice on how to beat me, lol. It would be amazing if we could get a handful of Cardboard Warriors involved and perhaps hold an entire Papercraft Cup!
(All 9th Age rules are 100% FREE, and a lifetime TTS subscription is only $20 on Steam, though often on sale. And, you can play A LOT more than just 9th Age)
Thank you to Antohammer for a lovely game, and I can't wait for a rematch!
I hope you all enjoy the video, and please be in touch if you're interested in learning/playing some 9th Age!
