At the prompting of verminking, I'm posting my build of "The Maiden" by WWG. Built several years ago, with the modifications I made: Named it for my mother - the Dorothy Ann - so that was hand-inked onto the nameplate. I cut the doors and gun ports so they could swing open. Used the optional 3D sidearm masts and 3D bowsprite. Used acetate for clear windows. Did not have black foamcore at that time, so used some brown hobby paint from Walmart to darken up the base. Built the dock and crane from WWG SeaWorks-Skull Harbor for display purposes (I think its still available over on Paizo.com with some of their other older sets). The photos came out pretty nice - even though it was constructed with standard cardstock and not phootpaper. Overview: Bow: Sideview: Forecastle: Aft-castle: Stern: Someone else had built a Spanish Galleon kitbash version which was really impressive. Unfortunately, with the current state of the site, none of the build photos are accessible. (At least not as I tried to view them.)

Now that is spectacular. If that isn't inspiration, I don't know what is

You did a great job! It turned out wonderfully!
Some day when I retire or magically decide not to have three jobs, I really want to build an entire fleet of ships from Papierschnitzel. I love their designs so much. My Maiden has been gathering dust and is starting to look a little dated...
Did you find the build process as nerve-wracking as I recall I did? lol It turned out fine, but at every step I felt like "oh god, if this turns out wrong I have to start over!"

That's probably why so many build threads get started, and then end abruptly.
I totally understand the fleet concept, but I certainly do not have the time

Thanks, guys! It was a labor of love. I do have a full set printed out and sitting in my "to do" tower that I printed out in black and white to serve as a ghost ship. I was also wanting to do a slightly smaller version - basically leaving out one of the deck sections and using only two masts. I would have to trim the outside hull walls to accommodate the new size...
