I knew I wanted to make something, so I started with a basic concrete building, just to get going. As I was fleshing that out, it seemed that the building was more of a complimentary piece. Not wanting to make another building, I went with the next obvious choice... yep, you guessed it. I've always really liked shep's plasebuilmo idea, and have always wanted to do one, so now I am. This is my plasebuil. With two structures and a page full of props, I am well on my way. Here's where I'm at so far. I did the pics like this to save space, and to get an idea of how I might like to do the instructions. exteriors and floor interiors platform, radar top, and tower tower feet attachment platform attachment props Still a lot to go, but I feel pretty good with where I've gone so far.

While waiting for a cutter, and thinking about how to make this thing more "playset", I apparently decided I should make tiles. Then, somewhere along the way, it all became part of a small airfield. Perhaps, where the mail is flown in from the continent, to be loaded onto the mail boat, and delivered to the out islands. Perhaps, an airfield left to be forgotten, it's memory preserved only by the smugglers who now use it... well, you get the point. Anyway, the tiles are 7x9. The runway is 6" wide. My plan is to make tiles so that the bottom of the layout will have a dirt access road running parallel to the landing strip. Then, in between those, have some gravel patches where the building and tower would be, and maybe a gravel parking spot or two next to the building. I'm not really sure how I'm going to do that, but I've been pleasantly surprised with what I have managed to pull out of my @$$ so far.

Here's a pic with a truck and a mini for scale. and here's one to show the patchy grass a little bit.

This is the gravel texture. I'm pretty happy with it. Also a sample of what a tile might look like.
I guess now I have to figure out how to make a believable dirt road.

Started working on layout, and experimenting with some weeds and flowers to break the monotony of the patchy grass. I'll have to go back and redo these, but I have a much better view of where I'm headed.

Brings back memories of growing up on Air Force bases in the fifties and sixties. Very well done.

Still working on tiles. Got the dirt roads looking a little better. Figured out a little bit more on the layout of the gravel patches. Making progress, but more to go. In the mean time, I started work on a four wheeler with a little trailer. The trailer, I'm not to worried about, but the four wheeler was another story. There's nothing out there worth kitbashing ( Vermin King and I had a conversation about this at one point). That means I have to make my own. Sooooo... here's where I am at so far.

What is crazy is that there are several 4-wheelers out there (and the old Honda 3-wheelers), but they are all too large and do not shrink well. They also have odd connections, so I am sure that starting from scratch is the best idea. Do you have a four wheeler that you are using as an example?

A little more progress. The "where you put your feet" section seem too long, so I shortened it by a 1/4" ( I might knock another 1/8" off). Also tried some different sizes of wheels until I got to this one, which looks pretty good to my eye. This is not how the wheels will attach, I just haven't gotten to that part yet, and I wanted to get the wheel size right so I could see what part I need to make for them. Vermin King , "Do you have a four wheeler that you are using as an example?" Yes, and no. For the design, I'm just kind of making it up. Somewhere between what looks believable ( at least to me) and what's feasible. Of course I did look at a lot of pictures to help with the believable part. I was unaware that you could buy one from Target, Walmart, and Amazon. Anyway, I digress. I did get some decent pics that I will use to help me texture it, like the tires for instance.

Suspension/axel part reworked, and retextured. Headlight and tailights added. Still need to work on the body/engine. I keep going back and forth on the headlight. The conical one, is more fiddly (considerably so), and seems sort of out of place on an atv. The boxy one, is less fiddly, and seems to fit better. I kind of feel like it should be a tiny bit smaller, but I'm not sure if I can go much smaller, and keep a decent sized light. Despite the boxy one seeming to be the obvious choice, but the conical one keeps looking at me, and I think...I dunno...maybe? I could really use some outside opinions on this. What fits the best, what looks the coolest, what makes the most sense (visually and build wise). That sort of thing. I've been staring at, and built enough iterations of this thing, that I can't tell if it's real or if my eyelids are playing movies again. Fresh eyes could most helpful. Anyway here's both of them.

Jeez, that's an amazing model. Well done! I really admire how un-paper-like it appears.

They don't take up much space on the page. Allow the builder to decide. The Cyberquad (Tesla) doesn't have motors showing. I honestly think that you could leave this as-is and it would be great. I keep coming back to this image. My thought is 'this is really cool. I want one', not 'where's the motor?'. Under the engine cover panels ... But it is up to you, sir. Excellent work thus far

okumarts Thanks man I really appreciate that. I'm not exactly sure about the not looking like paper thing, but it sounds positive so I'll take it. Vermin King I think you're right on both counts. I actually had the same thought about the headlights. They take up virtually no space, and more options are always fun. Speaking of options. I'm thinking of doing two versions of the body. I'll bring the main color texture down just a little, so it doesn't look like the seat is on a flat plate. Then for the easier version I'll take off the engine texture, and maybe put a vent or something. For the other version I want to cut out a small section of the body, and then put an engine texture on both sides of a box slightly narrower than the the body. The idea being to set the engine in a little bit like you would see on a real atv. Now, in fairness, I don't know how that will look, how much harder it will be, or if it's even worth it, but we will all find out soon enough. In the mean time...This is a hand pump and electrical box thing made based off of pictures I took while camping in Georgia. I was taking a lot of pictures of rocks and trees ect for textures. I saw this and thought "I'm going to make this". Well, it would seem that's what happened.
The water pipe, and the pvc pipe were done kris style. I know he's not the only one to wrap textures around toothpicks, but that's what I'm going to call it anyway.
