Does anyone know of a program that makes tiles for backgrounds and fills? I could just crop my bitmap images into square shapes, but I really don't want the seams that come from mismatched edges. Really, I'm looking for something to blend the opposite edges at the same time.
Any thoughts?

i need to dig in my bookmarks when at home.
I can't do it right now, but have you tried googling for "seamless tile maker" or "seamless texture filter", or any combination available?
I know i have got the same need some years ago.....

In Photoshop you can make any time seamless by using the built in Offset plugin. then just create a pattern and wa~lah. Here is a link to a page that discusses a few strategies as such. There was also quite a few free/commercial standalone-plugins available. Here is a link to quite a few. ~Floyd My only real problem with Seamless tiles is repeating patterns on larger tables (3x3 and above) for examples look at how some of the old WWG terrain(or other companies tiles for that matter) tiles looked when repeated over an area. Mel's new'ish terrain tiles do a decent job of obviating this problem. But our eyes are extremely good at picking out patterns... no matter how subtle.

Thanks Floyd! Those links help a lot. I should poke around About.com more often...
