Does anyone know where I can find a set of modern Afghanistan theatre Taliban paper miniatures? I guess I could cobble some together myself, but I don't have a whole ton of time this weekend and I need them for Monday. I was kind of thinking something along the lines of

I'm hunting (and requesting) for the exact same thing (other than modern soldier/urban militia paper minis) for a "Black hawk down"-like game i'm trying to develop. No success, since today

Well, I couldn't wait so I made my own paper minis based on existing "realtime" minis. Front and back.

The opponents will be superheroes. I already have those minis made (they are not paper). I'll see if I can post some images after the game Monday.

So where did you find those awesome front and back photos? I've been looking for something like that for a long time now with no success.

Sonofspock: I only managed to find front images and I made the backs in photoshop. They are workable, very rough really for my standards. If I had more time I would have drawn my own. As it is they should do just fine for tonight's game.

Here is the game in action... Kind of hard to see, but lots of mayhem. One superhero was hit with an RPG and it just about took him down. The main villains never even moved in to battle the superheroes, they scooted to their hidden base in the mountains of Afghanistan... only to be tracked by the heroes. Superheroes in a military situation is kind of a dicey area ethically. We had some skype difficulties that slowed down the game as two players play via skype now. All is well now, mostly it was a firewall on one player's network that was booting him off.

Those are nasty craters you've got there. Will the table ever recover? ;D
I've never played superhero games, but the scenery looks nice, and as long as there is mayhem, there's fun.

I had a few questions about how I made these minis. I use photoshop and edit images I find online. I flip the front views and drag them to where they need to go for the back of the mini. I then use photoshop to cut and paste parts, hiding front features, etc. It actually didn't take too long and the players really thought they were interesting. The IRONIC thing is that I'm just teaching a lesson on Muslim stereotyping in the media and so I've been sort of hyper aware of the socio-political issues these minis raise. My intent with the game I was running was to explore ethical issues of using superheroes in a modern war situation. I was actually impressed with how effective the insurgents were against the supers. I'm convinced that using superheroes against an unpowered force is like using nuclear or chemical weapons. It sort of plays up the mythos of superheroes and how they reveal something kind of dark about American society (and most all societies in general).

Can somebody identify these miniatures? I'd like to try the same thing for an upcoming game.
I have created a variety of metal-to-paper minis for my own use.

I had a similar ethical issue on racial stereotyping when playing a modern warfare game and a player asked 'how come whenever there's a bad guy, he's a muslim'.
I answered 'who said they were Muslim?'
Pretty easy to see who was stereotyping.

I just copied miniatures' titles ( name ) from the site.
