Hi all! I've not been around here for long, but I've been enjoying all the minis around. There are some really nice stuff around! I'm not an artist, but decided to take a shot at doing some stuff for my son. There's a show called Mike the Knight that he really enjoys, and it looked like a good start for introducing him to some paper minis! I got some resources from here: www.miketheknight.com/uk/activities/ and my first piece looks like this: What do you guys think? I know the coloring it's not the best... any advices for a beginner? Thanks!

looks great to me! The only thing I would mention is that at scale (whatever that is?!?!) the scabard might get lost. Maybe shoot for bigger contrast there.
Nice original style.

Funny and stylish - really well done! I would suggest bigger and brighter "chainmal" texture - it's almost not visible right now and after resizing to 30mm it probably will be dark-grey/blurred. Removing bowstring might be also helpfull - it's already too tiny yet causes unneeded outline between legs. Regarding colours you already know - but if I can suggest, I would go for more brighter ones / overall lighter tonality (and definitely kinda "gold" for sword). Also some delicate gradients/lights would add more deep and bring-up figure - but it's not necessary if you prefer so called "flat color style". Anyway great work here, keep on posting!

First of all thanks for the kind replies and sorry for the late development, but between work and personal life, theres not much free time. I took into consideration your advices and tried my best to improve my drawings. Here's an update with Mr.Blacksmith and Sparkie in the mix! I took the liberty of using Big Jim design aids to adjust scaling! Hope you enjoy!

This really looks like very polished and finished art to me (so why do you say, that you are not an artist, agadoijo!? ).

Thank you all! You've given me the encouragement to finish the rest of the characters! This really looks like very polished and finished art to me (so why do you say, that you are not an artist, agadoijo!? ). Well... I say I'm no artist because I'm a programmer by craft! My last drawing, before getting into this, is like 10 years! Oh my... I'm getting old! But I guess these are coming out better then expected, so I'll try my best to finish them all, and share with you guys! Thanks!

oh forgot to add, I know Mesper suggested removing the string, but seeing it without the string makes it feel a bit unfinished. How about putting the string back but moving it slightly so that its over the leg thus removing the need for an outline?

That would be clever.

Then, agadoijo, you are a natural talent without much need to practice drawing ... . You should continue to draw on a regular basis.

these are truly brilliant, my son wil LOVE them! great work. This is my goal! oh forgot to add, I know Mesper suggested removing the string, but seeing it without the string makes it feel a bit unfinished. How about putting the string back but moving it slightly so that its over the leg thus removing the need for an outline? I think I also prefer the version with the string even with the extra outline... what if, taking your suggestion into account, not only I move the string but make that part of the bow shorter so that the string stays on the leg, without it making any strange curve or not being attached to the correct place? I will try this out and see out it goes, I will probably only post an update on the weekend when I get more time.... but probably the update will come with a new character! Stay tuned!
