I'm looking to clean up this area and remove all the old posts from past HOARDS (ones that are already complete and on the one monk site). I suggest getting anything you might need saved (although the paper minis should already be up on the site and it shouldn't be an issue).

Aren't the text parts of the Hoards documents and comments of artists about their own and others work? Seriously, @nik, 'cleaning' that aspect of the Hoards up, would make me a bit sad. People have invested some time to get into talk about their paper mini approach - some text snippets could be still a nugget for old- and newcomers alike - and if only for archival purpose ... .

Indeed. Although the hoards threads might have been meant only for submission of completed works, many of them turned into "development logs" with discussions, references etc.

Unless it's a storage or bandwidth issue, I would ask that you keep them. As was mentioned, there is a lot of developmental material in these threads. Old threads drop down to other pages, so they are not likely to breed Thread Necromancy, yet there are many nuggets in there.

gilius, exactly. Development Logs and Reference Archives. Collective Experience in a Rare Craft, so to speak.

Btw, Vermin King, isn't a Thread a living being - and not a corpse?

I guess the collective has spoken. Perhaps then I will just move the 'old' threads into another folder (archive them) so it's easier to see what is active.

That is an extremely good idea. An Archived Hoard Section would be very helpful. Maybe three months after the Hoard goes live on One Monk. Not sure.

Good solution. I would think 30 days after the hoard is up on One Monk would be enough time for people to finish their discussions, or move them to a new thread, unless I'm missing something.

Yip, good solution, @nik. Structure and (labeled) archives are important. Would rise the long-term value of this forum ... . Never throw information without a reason into the trash-container. You could need it in desperate and unknown times ... . @vermin King, I prefer your 3 months time limit to your, @cowboy, (very timely) 30 days time limit ... . Would help the late-comers (=me) . May I ask to accept the 3 month range as a new lax leeway for contributions to the Hoard? I think, noone is 'controlling' the 1-month-deadline anyhow right now. In addition there should be always a chance to fill the gaps and really neglected/mistreated months like January 2012 (neglecting the 'Fantasy Hoard'? How could that happen? Shame on us ... ;D).

After Hoards are posted, I've seen questions posted more than a month later. I just threw the 3 months number out there. I wouldn't be hard and fast on that, but would quarterly take a few minutes and archive any threads that were over 90 days old. No sense turning it into an administrative nightmare.

Right, I was thinking each time a hoard was up, you archive the previous hoards thread, but whatever is easier. I wonder about the hoard thing at all actually, I know a deadline sometimes helps get projects completed, but since we don't enforce the theme they aren't a particularily good way of organising models for others to find when they need them. Would it be possible to duplicate stuff in a "permanent" WWII thread, a fantasy thread, a western thread etc.?
