I'll be buying into the Kickstarter so I can get the big box. OGRE was literally the first wargame I ever played back when I was twelve. Followed by Rivets, Chitin1, Lords of Underearth, GEV, The Fantasy Trip, and most of the microgames that Metagaming produced.

I bought in as well, couldn't resist.
Ogre was one of the few games I played in high school. Loved the lopsided battle between the big tank and all the units. Had one memorable game where I got down to one tread and one gun, but won by running over the command post, great fun! JIM

While i'm grateful to SJG for Car Wars (i played it so much that the paper map ink start fading) i never felt Ogre such a great game. It was nice, somewhat original, but really it did'nt hit my heart and the one of my friends. I understand why SJ wanted to produce it, and i've followed the whole 2 years long thread at BGG, so i see that it is more a project for the love of it rather than a solid business plan..... to me, Ogre did'nt deserved a price so high (i'm talking about the game, not the production value). So i'll pass entirely this new box (not talking about that not being in US bringing it here will kill me).

Well, the price is a bit more than the $3.95 I paid for the original and each expansion.
I always wanted the non-Ogre units to be more, well, combat worthy and savvy, but enjoyed the game as a beer and pretzels type.
Although I haven't played in a long while, I remember Ogre having pretty smooth game play and easy to comprehend rules, unlike the SPI-type games that read like someone's MA thesis.
So, they got my money primarily because (a) I loved the original (I've got both the microgame and first boxed versions) and (b) I wanted to support something I felt worthy. So I looked on it the same as supporting my local symphony and the college Foundation--I enjoy music and I like the people I meet at Foundation functions. Not sure why anyone would donate more than a hundred dollars, though.

I really like this project being realized. But $100 is wayyyy to steep a entry for me Espeically the the figures only being cardboard. But I'll probably get the PDF when its released. And just use paper minis of mine own for this game. I liked this game so much I had sought out and purchased an app for my old HandspringPDA called SoloTank. Which controlled the AI of the Orge miniature so you could play it out solo. Quite fun. Miss it alot. ~Fl0yd

What is it about Lego that brings out the creativity?

Now that I've had a chance to look at the structures in the game, I have to say, I'm not impressed--for a hundred dollars you'd think they'd do actual 3D buildings. I still like the Ogres, though, and the vehicles, which are a real pain to model at that scale. Here's an idea of what I mean--about two minutes of work: Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Absolutely amazing! I am impressed with how creative people can get with these legos. And I would absolutely go this route... weren't for the fact that I'd probably have $100 tied up in getting the costly Lego pieces required to make these... LOL ~Fl0yd

Floyd,
If you've got access to a Lego store, you can buy buckets of individual pieces. My daughter says you can order custom Lego sets from Lego online (she did that for my grandson's birthday). Either way might be cheaper than trying to accumulate the right sets.

The kickstarter ends soon. But the relevant news is that people in Europe and Australia can get in too! SJG has released new support option that include international shipping. (Brazil is out, so I'm out of luck too)
