Why not try using a layered pdf, like Dave does for his buildings. This way you could make them whatever color you need. Heck, you might even be able to to do that with weapons. (spear, sword, shield/no shield). (Used original pic you posted)

I bet Dave or Dragnoz would help you sort out doing layering

WOW! Imnntt, that looks better than my "finished" product. That is the downside of not having the computer skills I need for this. I tried to delete this thread, because I am actually changing the way I am coloring them. Sure, with Imnntt's help I could have released this WEEKS ago, but I am trying to do this on my own. (Not to be rude, just wanting to do this without help. I had help on the last two sets, and am wanting to be self-suffient. I hope this makes sense... but I am ALWAYS open to advice and pointers from anyone). ;D Here is a sample of the coloring I HAVE done so far... Attachments:

Absolutely, Dave helped me out A LOT with the post he did, ill have to go dig it up, its on the forum somewhere. I did adapt his way of doing it to be better compatible with figures.
You do need Adobe Indesign and Adobe Acrobat Pro to do it though :S not sure if there is a way to do it with non comercial tools....
It is a good investment to make though, you dont need the latest version, you could get CS4 quite cheap on ebay
