I'm building the Bakery from Mystic Mountain - a wonderful looking model that I want to convert to have a playable interior.
Here's some pics and commentary on my process/progress...
Since this model has buttresses, I decided to make the main house have two play modes - Roof off AND house-off for most freedom of movement. Very much inspired by this Chapel build:

Here's where I am so far:
First obvious change: It is not glued to the ground tile - I haven't made the ground tile yet because I'm trying to figure out what I want to use under the texture to attach the magnets in the base of the buttresses to - metal-foil tape or more magnets (which I've just ordered.)
The roof is just sitting on there... Let's take it off...
The interior wall textures are mostly just mirror images of the outer walls. But if you look closely at the dormer you'll notice that I textured the tabs with the roof tiles and the external wall texture and glued them to the outside of the model. This is because...
I cut out the dormer hole and skinned the inside - a space for storing items! I look forward to taking beauty shots with books or something here...
BTW - the floor texture is from an old FDG kit - touched up with photoshop. It is attached to black foam core...
Some more magic-healing-brush and clone tool and I could use the outside wall texture (which had a huge white area for the chimney) inside:
I'll put a chimney prop in when I play with this space.
So far, this model folds up - that isn't a goal, but is interesting. I don't expect that to last. Though, whenever I do a removable roof, I have new ideas how to keep it down and looking decent. This model has several alignment points for the roof: The chimney, the dormer, and the peak that goes out to the work area, so all I needed to do was keep it from popping up. Here's my solution this time:
Yup. Two pennies taped under the spots that tend to pop up. Not elegant but it works.
