Is it playable with just the rulebook? or the characters stats are in the figure sets?

The rulebook has all the rules for play, including character cards for each of the squads/characters. The set includes images of science fiction treasure chests and other icons needed for play. The rules are 100% complete in the set.
The rule set is intended for use with our Sci-Fi Tiles, Aliens and Marines, and Science Fiction Character Miniatures. The Sci-Fi Tiles are used as the dungeon tiles as well as the doors. The Aliens and Marines and Science Fiction Character Miniatures are figure flats for icons for the characters which correspond to the images on the character cards in the Deadly Mission: Sector 15 rule set. The Sci-Fi Tiles themselves are available in print on demand which can be very helpful for this game (or for any science fiction game you are playing) since you get 59 tiles on 12 point card front and back (clean and rusty). The PDF has things like 3d walls and 2d doors and some additional add on bits to place on top of the tiles (It can be bought for just $1 with the POD). The game can be played without them if you wish; you'll need other tiles, doors, and miniatures to replace them with though (Its a lot easier with our two figure flat sets since the images correspond to the rule cards however).
