Awesome! You can expect cutfiles and a fold-flat build-mod posted soon! (Probably with interior option, because I like stuff like that.
I thought I saw a hovel floor posted around here somewheres... :-)

Now that I look at it after getting some sleep, it needs some skulls, cob webs, maybe some notices or mystical graffiti and maybe a no trespassing sign or something.

Disadvantage of using the "New" list of posts and working from earliest to latest is I totally failed to spot this before posting on your Hovel Map topic Spaceranger... Still, at least this version has no interior! Looking at it now - those windows, I think - it would work as an evil chapel or tomb particularly. Can't really imagine anybody living in it who didn't have to, so likely somebody unliving in it instead! Maybe work up an interior on those lines instead of the straightforward "Hovel" original? Now that I look at it after getting some sleep, it needs some skulls, cob webs, maybe some notices or mystical graffiti and maybe a no trespassing sign or something. Not too much more on the outside, I'd say. Maybe something nasty lurking high up under the eaves is about all. Those others might be options to leave for the layered version instead, or perhaps (especially for notices) as separate optional add-ons. An evil chapel needs an evil free-standing noticeboard outside it just like regular chapels! Or maybe small shrines to unsaints...

Did anyone build this? I would love your feedback before I start putting the tabs on my next project, or maybe a second draft of this one.

Well, the roof overhang tabs are a bit problematic, but I'm sure you were already aware of that. The only other advice is to avoid the "puzzle piece" base. Better to keep the edges straight and make it rectangular by default. People can cut it out in the irregular way if it suits them.

Yeah, I thought I was being clever there witht he jigsaw look, until I cut it out For the tabs, you mean at the peak right, where the white card shows painfully obvious? I was thinking last night that I should make that a solid tab all the way across.

I was thinking last night that I should make that a solid tab all the way across. A simple millimeter wide slit at the score would be best. Keeping it solid will make it hard to fold it, so trimming out a thin sliver will be enough to help the card bend cleanly, without leaving a chunk of visible white space.

Wicked, I will do that. I haven't got back to it for a couple of weeks because I picked up so much other stuff this month. But I am about to put the tabs on a modern building I am working on (a red brick build with a deli on the ground floor with a private invetigator's office above it). But I think that with the fantasy stuff I will probably do more creepy undead style (think forsaken from WoW) style buildings. That way if I do get a good enough response to start selling stuff I won't be stepping on anyone elses market.

Real problem with doing stuff that's already been done is not so much the danger of upsetting established designers... it's just a lot trickier to sell the stuff because people won't rush to buy something they already have. It's a tricky thing finding gaps that need filling, because the stuff people need most are generally also pretty well catered for. Don't let that put you off though. You have the chops to make some good stuff... it's just a matter of getting the word out as far and wide as you can, and hopefully building up a loyal fanbase while you're at it.
