Sade, a great CG artist, imho, has just released a "pre-beta" for this program, "Epic Character Image and Token Generator". For now it's just "curiosity" ( though I'm very curious ), and it is not free ( 50 cents ). So I wrote here instead of in free resources. The final program will be free ( you will buy instead the various expansion packs, races, clothes, gender, weapons ... ) I think that if this program can also create paper minis with front and back it will become my definitive program for "on the fly" paper figures. So if someone wants to invest 50 cents in his own personal small "kickstarer", this is the right time because now the feedbacks become very useful for the author.

It was, she must have already gotten enough people to sign up?

Or there's a problem with the program. I downloaded it after seeing Rhannon's initial posting, but despite downloading it twice more since, I cannot get it to install on Windows; just keep getting the same error message that the Windows Installer isn't available (it is, and is functioning fine, given that I've installed other new software without any difficulties during the last few days).
Irritatingly, although the Sade pages on OBS have a note to say "click on contact publisher" if you want to commission anything or make contact re the program (when that page was still available), there's no "contact publisher" button to click, while the "publisher's Webpage" link simply comes up with an "Error 404 Webpage Not Found" message. Thankfully, only half a dollar wasted, by the looks of things...

That's frustrating. I remember now, that her publisher link didn't work. :/
That's a tip for any one planning to sell - keep your contact info and other product-related links current and working. Nothing less professional than (apparent) abandonment of your products. I don't think she qualifies yet, as she is at least adding to her catalogue, but not a good sign..

The Sade pages are also a case of the missing product images. I found quite a number like this, including one saying "what you see is what you get", so strongly implying nothing at all, and doubly annoying as there was no preview to check on that page, nor even a written text describing the artwork. I suspect this may have come about as a number of the pages also mentioned a "recent return" (with several items that were all apparently "the first" to appear afterwards!), so some of the items in need of repair may yet be work in progress.
As regards the program, I've dropped an e-note to the OBS "Contact Us" address, so hopefully they may have a little more information to impart in that regard.

Ok guys, I am a bit disappointed, I'm sorry, especially I apologize to wyvern. My enthusiasm for everything to do with the paper figures sometimes makes me too spontaneous and too fast. I suppose that the author has withdrawn the program to improve it ( or someone has reported errors in its working ). It is an initial pre-beta then perhaps the author would have done better, imho, to share it for free and to get all the returned feedbacks. wyvern: for me the program works fine ( for what little that is ). I have a very old computer ( I use it to write, for internet, and buy, so I do not have much expectation/needs about it ) wuth windows xp. We can to try other now ... But while you wait you can try this: link. It's free. This time.

Thanks Rhannon. Please don't blame yourself for any of this; it was my choice to try it - you simply pointed me in the right direction! Having tried and failed with your version of the software too, it seems I'll need to investigate further what may be happening with it on my system - I'm running a none-too-new PC with Windows XP as well...
Of course, it could just be because it's a computer...

Rhannon: Just tested your Nov 7 link here again (2013 Nov 9), and it's now redirecting me to a free paper mini PDF constructor on RPGNow "Silvervine Games Paper Mini Maker", not Sade's program. While that's fine, and you can apparently upload any image to create a paper mini with it (although you only get an automatic inverted image as the "back" view), it's perhaps worth noting this isn't the same program as this topic's about, in case anyone may be confused coming to it later on!

Yes it is a different program. Since Sade's token generator doesn't work I have linked this program. A simple and different thing.

Yes it is a different program. Since Sade's token generator doesn't work I have linked this program. A simple and different thing. That's fine; just wanted to be sure there hadn't been a glitch somewhere! As a further update to the saga I've had with Sade's program, today I tried installing it onto a different Windows XP PC. This time, the Installation Wizard worked, but the program wouldn't run. I simply get an error message about the application, suggesting I try reinstalling it. So I ran through all the usual tricks, uninstall then reinstall, reinstall in repair mode, switching off the PC and restarting it after a new installation, but I get the same error message each time. My conclusion is that while there may be a problem between my main PC's installation wizard and this program, there seems to be some genuine difficulty with the software overall, because I can't see why two entirely unconnected PCs should be unable to run it. The fact it was withdrawn from sale so very soon after it was launched also seems to suggest there may be some previously undiscovered glitch with it. None of this explains why your version has been fine though, Rhannon; on that basis, maybe this would be a good week for you to try your luck with the Euromillions Lottery?
