My Cameo is either tearing it up or not cutting through all the way. I just can't get it right! Even the basic cardstock setting is no good.

Is the paper adhering to the mat? When the paper doesn't stick well and comes loose then it can get hung up in the blade and get torn up or not cut through all the way. Are your blades sharp? Do you have this problem on heavier stock? The only times that I raan into similar problems was when my glue was weak or my blades were dull.

The mat and blades are fine with glossy photo paper (and its thicker actually). It seems to be adhering to the mat just fine.

I see tearing if I try to cut too fast. What settings are you using for what kind of cutting? I cut paper minis at speed 1!

whats the gsm/lbs of the paper? I'm cutting double side matte photo 220gsm(150lbs?) max speed 5, on a new blade I start at 12-double cut as it blunts I move up the pressure until around 28-double cut then blade meets bin. (I always double cut find I get a better result on matte paper). I do find matte paper tougher on blades than regular card or glossy not sure why....

I cut double-sided matte photo paper at max pressure, max speed, double cut, with a blade depth of 3. If the cuts are complex, sometimes I drop the speed down to 7 or 5, but there's no real rhyme or reason about when I do that.

I know it depends on paper and complexity of models, but how many pages on average do u guys get out of a single blade before you NEED to replace it?

Never really counted but I'd estimate somewhere between 40-80 pages. Pretty sure it's not less than 40 pages as that's 2 packs of paper (mine come in 20 page bundles) and I definitely get more than 2 packs per blade but I can't be sure I cut more than 5 on a single blade.
I'll sometimes save a blade if I think it's to not to blunt and use it on thinner card or sticker sheet.
* Like mproteau my blade depth runs at 3

Sirrob01, I'd swear I get more than 200 pages per blade (with some pages clearly requiring more cutting/scoring than others). But, I've never had the attention span to keep track, and I am willing to cut things until the blade is really dead. Maybe I'm only getting ~80 pages per blade, and I'm just in denial about it.

I did track usage on my first blade and it was over 200 pages of cutting, mainly of minis but quite a few models too.

200 pages is amazing value!
What about the mat? Does it hold up as long?

Since I've had my robocutter (been through at least a thousand pages (four reams) of cardstock, and a couple hundred pages of matte photo paper. I'm on my second cutting mat, and I probably didn't really need to change over - I thought the mat was my problem, but I had a dull blade at depth 7, and it was trying to chew THROUGH the mat, which explains the slipping problems I was having. Live and learn. Depth 3.
I have a can of Scotch Spray Mount (NOT Super77 Spray GLUE) that I give one or two small spritzes of to the mat now and then, or I wash it with a scrubbing sponge, dish soap and warm water, and let dry. After I wash it, it's remarkably clean, and too sticky to use, so I take a regular piece of paper and try to get it un-sticky again.
I've got a couple replacement mats on my xmas wish list, not because I need them, but because I don't have much to put on my xmas wish list.

I think it's a combination of the matte paper I use and the added paper weight that wears the blade out faster, I haven't been able to source any cheap double sided matte at 180gsm. If I flip over to 160gsm or sticker sheet the blade doesn't seem to blunt at all, likewise if I use normal paper it just keeps going I use the card sheets that come either side of a paperpack as a carrier, same as mproteau small squirt of 3m 77 for stickyness
