The thing I like most about the KoW ruleset is that it allows unit basing which means that each unit in an army can be a mini diorama. The first base which I've completed is intended to be a unit of Sylphs and other Fae, only the way I've put it together it can also be a Treeman base with the Fae busy with encouraging the Treeman to wakeup and go stamp on some Goblins or whatever. Please excuse the poor quality photo as I had to use my cellphone. One Monk's Halloween Tree made for a wonderful centrepiece, only it took forever to cut it all out nice and neatly. I used three scenic bits from Permes's Forest Ambush set to dress up the base as well. The tree really could do with some more wee Imperfect fairies in its branches, but I won't be able to print some more off until my daughter's completed installing my new printer on the IBM server that runs our home network. To make the base itself a One Monk movement tray was modified to fit around a piece of plywood which I'd cut to the correct size. In its Sylph and Fae base guise the tree itself is their standard/banner and the two dancing Imperfect Wood Nymphs are war chanters (musicians). The next unit base I'm going to build up will make use of eight or so Imperfect Mossmen, only I'm still working out the details of how I'm going to pose them on the base.

It looks great, I always worry about storage, but a bunch of these scattered around a room would be very charming indeed. The first thing I noticed was how the texture on the base wrapped around the edges, it makes the whole thing look really good.

Thanks cowboyleland I was going to use foamcore board for the base, only I thought using plywood would make the whole base much more stable by giving the base units a little more weight down low where it would do the most good. One Monk movement trays are really easy to re-purpose as large bases too. Being very diorama like means that the bases can be easily displayed without worrying about minis falling off their movement tray.

That is a beautiful diorama! I really want to see your full army! Ryan So do I Ryan This army is still very much a WIP. A forces of Nature army under KoW has a neutral alignment and as it happens Ogres also have a neutral alignment, - soooooooooo I think I'll make some Ogre bases as I can legally take them as allies. Ogres have Red Goblins as minions and these are a different breed to the other mostly green Goblins in the KoW worldsphere. Green Goblins are described as being 'utterly spineless' in the KoW rulebook whereas the Red ones are made of sterner stuff. Why am I mentioning all this? - because this means that I can use the pink re-colour of the One Monk Goblins in my Forces of Nature army

Thanks hackbarth That tip about using the full sheet textures is really useful. I had somehow missed that amazing Skeleton army thread and I must admit the basing is pretty impressive.

Great to see these having heard about them on the Mantic forum. Well done. Don't let Ronnie see them, he will want to run a Kickstarter for paper minis.

Thanks misterc These days I find miniature painting difficult due to this illness I have so paper minis is what I like to use these days. With my Mantic Elves I'm going to cheat by spraying them bronze and then giving them a dip to provide the shading. Their faces can be touched in afterwards.
