Today, June 21st, 2014, is Free RPG Day! See details and worldwide store locator at the Official Free RPG Day Page! At your participating Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS) or maybe even Friendly Local Comic Store (FLCS), you may find the following delicious freebies (listed in decreasing order of availability): Pathfinder Adventure “Risen from the Sands” * Pathfinder Adventure Card Game 4-Pack *Cosmic Patrol Quickstart DCC RPG Adventure Shadowrun/A Time of War Quickstart Flipbook * Modern FUDGE Dice Valiant Universe RPG QuickStart Commemerative Dice Lamentations of Flame Princess: "The Doom Cave of the Crystal-Headed Children" Mage the Ascension 20th Anniversary Quickstart 13th Age Adventure * Adventure Book Sampler: "Time Travel Dinosaur" * Castles & Crusades Adventure: "A Druid's Lament" ***** Unique Dice Tower (Meeple Shaped) Godsfall RPG Quickstart Free RPG Day Employee T-Shirt (XL) * GripMat, 8"x8" Sampler ***** Noble Knight Games still has many of these in stock, one item for 1 cent with every $15 ordered! If no-one nearby is participating, you can always find freebies at RPGNow - check Maps/Buildings/Miniatures to find great stuff by our members! Good hunting! P.S. If you can snag a copy of the Castles & Crusades' offering, hold onto it for me, would ya? P.P.S. Single starred items (*) are what my husband & I (ok, so mostly for me, aspiring GM) snagged, 5-starred items are what I wished I'd been able to get. I do feel lucky to get anything, because my "FLGS" didn't participate this year (they are pretty focused on MtG and WH40K), and I got to my FLCS two hours after they opened.

Last year, I spent a chunk of Free RPG Day hunting through the free items on OBS (housebound, and it seemed appropriate). This year, I managed to get along to the only participating games shop near enough to reach, and was treated to a copy of the DCC/Maximum XCrawl adventures booklet as a result. I was also involved in an unexpected discussion with an RPG designer (for Achtung Cthulhu, and Cogs, Cakes & Swordsticks), who just happened to have dropped-in to offer her services running games on other occasions, not because it was Free RPG Day. Incredibly, her own local games store had been entirely disinterested! And I had more discussions with the keenest RPG staff member there, who's wanting to get involved more with entry-level RPGs suitable for youngsters (suggestions welcome, Anne, as I know this is one of your interests too, and I'll pass them on - maybe better to PM me to avoid straying too far off-topic here, if so). She's just taken her first steps into online purchasing via OBS for Call of Catthulu. CWF membership cannot be far away Plus said staff member whisked the flyer for the Lord ZseZse Kickstarter from my hand to add to the shop's display board. Makes it a good one here in my book Hope you managed to get your Lamenting Druid elsewhere, Anne. And hope that other RPGers here had a "grand day out" who were able to.
