Working on this years onepagedungeon contest and a nice distraction from the hordes of 15mm wargame minis, i find myself experimenting with dungeon tiles and things to put in them. Including minis =), so with only one page and a whole dungeon to put in it I turn to 10mm and a super deformed approach.
and its been i while since i put some minis up, so here you go see what you think. Been playing with "glow" and a few other fun approaches.
Love them!!! Like all your pieces.... Do post a link to the finished dungeon too!
Nice one, cheers. Will post one for sure. There is normally a compendium for the contest which is free with all the dungeons from that years contest, well worth a look if your in the market for some rpg material.
I've only used cast 10mm-scale 3D minis and scenery for dungeoneering (using the UK-produced Pendraken minis and scenery sets), and they work pretty well, if a little fiddly at times. Only thing I would say is that mini facing, and identifying it, can be quite important, so backs for your minis might be something worth considering. This does depend on what rules you're using though.
Tiny note for next time: it is a little easier to build the minis if the fold lines are aligned, rather than the fromt tabs. They look really good. I especially like the glow around the skeletons.
For sure, i know what you mean about the fold lines. But as im so tight for space (still got a dungeon, traps, loot and doors to fit on to one A4 page) i needed the tabs to form the base instead of slotting into a separate base. I was a bit unsure at first on the glow as was not sure how it would print, but pretty happy with it now.
This is quite brilliant! I love the way no two items on the page are exactly the same - especially the option to have every door in the dungeon be different to the others!
There could be a market for more sets like this - which would also increase the range of similarly-styled 10mm-scale monsters (was that too subtle a hint? ).
I'd give serious thought to maybe making this available more widely for Free RPG Day in June, as a PDF download, say (though I'm not sure if the One Page Dungeon Contest folks already do this?). If so, perhaps with an extra page of dungeon outline notes?
Cheers guys, hope you enjoy it. The one page dungeon people put all the dungeons into a yearly compendium which is pay what you want on rpgnow, any proceeds going into the prize fund for the next years contest. I would love for there to be a market for these as they are super fun and quick to make.
Got loads of good feedback on the super small dungeon. So been brewing up another, going to be a orc gobo dungeon in the same but much more refined style. Also have the need to try sculpt/cast minis based on them as well =).
8rad why didn't some one tell me about this sooner! WHY!!!!! like a crack junky I need more MORE I say!!!! this is FREAKING FANTASIC!! ok ok I'm calming down now. but seriously your chibi dungeon set is great and if you made more I would download every one of them! do you have a site where you sell this stuff? if so I must know where it is so I can throw money at you!
Thanks aaron for the great feed back =), Making more for sure. The Orcs and adventures 3 posts up are for the first new one, which will be the free on rpgnow/drivethurrpg to launch a group at maybe 2 dollars each. The first being a orcs nesty type thing, second undead barrow and a cthulu Egyptian style one so far. As you can see learning to sculpt for future maybe 3d resign versions =). Need much more sculpting skills first, making a metal slug marco next and learning to make molds. I do have a site, a tad neglected at the mo but theres some older stuff there. 8radgames.co.uk
oldschooldm: Yup. More power to anyone who tries it. It will only whet the appetite for people who want paper minis that were designed to be paper minis. :-) Fronts and Backs FOREVER! :-) [... it's bait, don't bite it! ... ]

cowboyleland: Now I have seen it. It doesn't advance our hobby, but anyone with half a brain who wanted 2nd rate figures could easily figure this out for themselves so I guess he isn't doing any harm.

berneart76: well, this is fun, (not) transferring all my papercrafting sets into the cloud. The stuff I got from DriveTrhruRPG was simple with their library desktop app,but my other stuff, sometimes with multiple duplicate copies is entertaining.

berneart76: Vermin King I usually use a mix of drybrush/watercolor/photocopy and occasionally posterizing at different levels of opacity.

berneart76: Vermin King, that's similar to the enhancing that I do on my texturing. I've found that sometimes I need to scale up or scale down the image (usually by 50 or 25 percent down or 200 or 300 percent up) to make get the enhancements to look "right"

Vermin King: On the zebras, I did multiple enhancements and cartoon filters and used them at 100%, and they still didn't look that different than the photos

Vermin King: When I make a figure or terrain piece based on a photo, I clean it up and align things to look 'right', then I create another layer and do enhancing and cartoonizing on it. I then adjust opacity over the photo image until it looks good. On the zebras,

Vermin King: berneart76, do you mean giving them green or purple manes and tails? and a few piercings? maybe a cig hanging out of their mouths?

Vermin King: cartoonizing a zebra doesn't do much

Vermin King: And due to the snow, I'm off tonight. I am going to miss the cash on the paycheck, but I'm glad they want their employees to be safe

ignatious: Actually I was referring to the two previous posts. I was trying to be subtle in order to sublimate the crassness. Read them again, but in Mel Brooks voice while he is winking, and nudging the person to his right.

Vermin King: Sure. Euphemize us
Feb 8, 2019 18:40:48 GMT -9
ignatious: would anyone care for a euphemism?

cowboyleland: We hadn't had snow for a few days. Last night the plow came down my street and did nothing but fill every ones driveways back in. Just for practice, I guess.

Vermin King: In KC we had an ice storm (with thunder sleet) the other night. Left things drivable, but last night the plow came down my street. They took all the rough edges off. Might as well have ran a Zamboni...
