Hello, all. Here is my submission for this category. The pictures are not great, but I was pleased with how this worked out as a model and in terms of how it worked in game play. The idea here was to creat a partially constructed keep on an artificial island in a swamp. - The main gatehouse and towers are from FDG's Winterhawk. Using the fold-flat system from FDG's Ravenfell, I modified the towers to have multiple levels that are stackable with interiors. - The half-built walls are modified from FDG's Borderland Keep walls. I took the texture from the broken wall in that set and recessed it into cut-down walls. - The half-built towers are simply cut down versions of the Winterhawk towers. - For the rear gate in the half-built wall I combined the Borderland Keep wall with the doorway from FDGs EZ Dungeons temple expansion. - The rubble pile in the courtyard is kitbashed from various elements in FDG's EZ Dungeon Deluxe set. I used the texture from the the "rubble" tiles and superimposed them onto the geometry of the "treasure pile". Then I added some "rubble" pieces from that set. - The scaffolding is made of barbecue skewers and coffee stir sticks. Hope you like it.

"When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad, the strongest castle in all of England....."

:: Squee :: I LOVE play photos! From the character-name-tents I see you had a very large party - hope that went smoothly.
This submission really shows off the power of applying existing textures to other models. This is something I like to do all the time (I may have first gotten the idea from you!)
So this is 1) a Kitbash AND 2) A playspace. My favorite combination. Did your players spend any time interacting with the scaffolding? Climbing/Shoving/Burning/Dismantling?
As always, huzzah!

Really nice work! I don't know where I'd be without my bamboo skewers. I had something almost worthy of entry, but it was attacked by the cats and didn't survive. I took the old ship from Dragon magazine, printed a second copy slightly smaller and lined the inside so it wasn't blank on the inside, added wings to the sides from Da Vinci's ornithropter... Any way it was coming along great until Duncan MacKitty decided that it had occupied his overlook of my work space too long. I'm sure he had help from his sons, but he was the one we found sitting proudly at the foot of the wreckage the next morning. I've decided no more big projects until I have a place to store them that the cats can't reach or one that they do not already consider their own. I still kitbash, but I keep it much smaller now. Your work puts mine to shame.

A medieval construction site has long been on my list of things I wanted to do, so this diorama is a great inspiration. I'm not so fond of Fat Dragon's textures but here they work quite well, especially with your modifications. I especially like the half-finished rubble-sandwich walls you designed. Well done!

That is such a awesome/lazy concept! Half-way through a project and lose interest/run out of time? No problem, quickly knock up some scaffaloding with ice-lolly sticks and kebab-skewers and tell everyone it's /meant/ to be like that...
