Title: The Miracle at Igreja com Cruzeiro
Finishing Rank: SECOND PLACE! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for this entry and participated in this contest!
UPDATE:MORE PICTURES (later in this thread).
"There's been a lot of activity at the local church since they dug up the coffin of that old priest. I saw the county bishop and a bunch of other fancy folk go in just before dusk. They've been meetin' for hours."
The priest presents his case until dawn. A long tale about local crops, legends, the hearing of a voice from the graveyard, the excavation, and the amazing discovery.
All with the testimony of witnesses, of course.
"It is no small matter to declare a miracle," says the bishop. "there have been many false claims before, and our Lord tells us to test them completely."
"Indeed, your Most Reverend, may I suggest that each of you join me, two at a time, in the crypt just below this chamber to see the final evidence themselves?"
"Agreed."
"Here is the Golden Skeleton. You heard testimony from Father Orrio that his body was buried intact, and the head was not severed or positioned as it appeared when we opened this coffin. Examining the teeth suggest that this is, indeed, the transmogrified remains of Father Francis. Please examine it for yourselves."
Complete model list [not all items clearly shown in the submission, due to three photo limt. I will post a pointer to a detailed photoblog entry after voting is complete.]
Main model is FREE from Papermau: "Medieval Church - by Papermau - Igreja Medieval"
To this I added an interior, made the door functional, turned the windows into translucent stained glass, created a removable floor (stationed just below the windows), inserted a crypt underneath the floor by raising the model on a foam hill, made the roof fully textured and removable (adding trusses), opened top floor for a bell tower and opened the belfry all the way through the roof with internal textures.
FREE Figures: Codex Manesse by MiniLab Models. I built custom bases for these. These inspired the narrative.

(This model is a kitbash of a free model model Mauther, available at papermau.blogspot.com/2011/06/igreja-com-cruzeiro.html and many other designers, credited below.)

(This shot is taken though the front doors of the building, with the removable roof in place (you can see the support beams just at the top of the frame.) The light is coming through the vellum paper stained glass windows. You may have noticed the trap doors to the crypt at the priests feet - they open and lead down to the crypt via a steep staircase.)

(This crypt is a cutout in the layered-foam hill that I created as a custom base for this model.)
