I'm not finding the actual Roman Roads file, just a lot if spam links and some kind of installer file that calls itself Roman Roads. Can you send it to me directly or upload to a less spammy site like a dropbox account?

That is very odd, I'm having no problems finding the file on the site, and I can see that others have downloaded it. I'm wondering why you aren't getting the download page. I tried Dropbox - that was the original link that gave a 404 error. It's totally down right now, so maybe that's the explanation. I'll see if I can get Dropbox to work when it starts working again. EDIT: Is this the screen view you're getting when accessing the link? EDITEDIT: I have now added a Google Share link, I hope that one works.

And Dropbox seems to be back up now - so I re-added the link.

Got it! The 4-Shared link was taking me to a page that looked similar to your pic but clicking on the DL for the .rar file kept giving me a .dmg file, which wanted to install a bunch of junk on my machine. It's all good now.

yeah, unless you're a 4shared member, it can get annoying trying to wade thru the ads to isolate the exact download link. I' got mine through there but since it had been awhile since I'd downloaded off 4shared it took 3 tries to remember the proper download link location

This is a solid free basic tile set - everything you should need to make a number of urban ancient layouts. I like that it has two different widths of roads: 1" and 2" allowing for very different levels of "crowding" when placing my buildings down. I have only one wish: A transition tile so that the wide and narrow roads could connect. Even if you don't add them I'm sure someone will eventually kitbash one...

^ There are transition tiles, but either in the form of T-crosses or crossways. Are you thinking of a kind of "bottleneck" tile, a broad one that narrows in one end?

Thanks! I haven't had the time to do a proper layout myself, as my life has been a bit hectic lately, so It's wonderful to see your build! I'm glad you like it.

As I expand this, I wanted a market plaza, so I did some Gimp work to take the 'Turn' and make it into a corner of the plaza. I'd be glad to send you the file to show you what I did. The next photo set will have the Plaza in it, so you can see what I mean. I'm sure that if you did the tile, it would be better than my version.

Oh, I'm very interested to see that! I also have a few spare flower bed textures I never got around to use, that could add to the plaza experience.

I'm trying to decide on making it a market plaza, or do the church from World of Tanks and have this as the plaza in front of the church. I suppose it could be a multi-purpose plaza...
I'll show the untenanted plaza sooner than that

Do you do layered pdf's? I did one broad entrance, one narrow entrance, and one no entrance. Used mirror print to get the entrance to go the other direction. If you do layers, folks would find it more useable, but for my purposes, this works fine.
I'm not sure what links you are referring to

The link to enlarging the picture is sketchy. It has only worked for me one time out of three. Maybe it is just the webs are shaky today, I also lost a post. What I was going to say was that the lawns are actually out of place in a medieval city. The pavement should go right up to the buildings and the alley's would be paved as well. It would probably be easiest to put a matching texture on the base of the buildings so that when two bases touch each other they form a narrow alley. If you want a wider alley, add a strip of cobblestone between them.

That was another option I was going to ask for in this set. I think a brown 'grass' version would be very useful. I remember talking to a lady in one of those picturesque towns who was out sweeping. I asked he why there were so many folks out sweeping in the morning, when I didn't see dust getting kicked up. She told me that they were keeping the grass from getting started in the cracks in the pavement.

I totally missed those two last posts. Different ground textures is definitely something that has been under my consideration, and something I will definitely be looking into. However, I'm going on a US trip next week (Illinois), and won't be back until the end of the month, so it will probably be after that.

Coming over to see the Abe Lincoln sites? No, seriously, is the trip for business or pleasure? My son was actually born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, but I haven't been there in years.

Pleasure and business. And since it's a long way to come from Denmark, I might as well combine the two. I have a very good friend in Genoa, and I am talking with NIU in DeKalb about a possibly PhD study, so I'm meeting a couple of people there as well.

I finally got some time on my hands, and decided to spend some of it on looking onto developing this set further. So, Vermin King, Sir, brown grass.... were you thinking of something along these lines? Working on a version with dirt/mud instead of grass as well. Heck, if it turns out decent, I might publish.
