I think the basic image is good. My advice would be to design a "backside" instead of two "front sides."

I think the basic image is good. My advice would be to design a "backside" instead of two "front sides." Dittos to what tugunmojo said. I downloaded it and printed it out at 30mm from the sole of the foot to the eyeline, so I could see what it will actually look like. I like the concept very much, and I can see the Cruseau influences in it. I wouldn't mind having a unit or two of these on the tabletop. Did you use the spray-paint feature to do your shading? If so, you did it very well. Some of the details are a little too small, but the figure is very good for an initial entry. Make a back for it, slap some heavy black lines around them to make the alignment and trimming easier, and I'd say you've got a winner. Have fun! Steve

Man, the things that run through my mind!
I was looking at the copy of the white ape pikeman I printed out, and was thinking about how they'd work as a pike unit.
At the start of the battle, they'd be all lined up in their ranks and files, maintaining good order, and marching into contact, chanting something like "eeh eeh ooh ooh aah aah" to keep in step. A few yards out, they lower their pikes and sprint into collision, uttering unearthly Tarzan-like screeches. As the melee begins, some throw down their pikes and start hopping up and down, baring their fangs and beating their chests. Soon both formations disintegrate into mobs of howling and hooting apes putting on the most astounding show of intimidation displays. Finally one side has had enough and flees. Battle over. Actual casualties... ZERO!
And with that, all I can say is...
Have fun! Steve

Very cool concept and execution, and as Steve said, the painting on it's great. I agree with the general concensus; create a back view, add a nice thick black outline to make cutting easier, and you're onto a winner!
Cute gameplay idea, Steve. On a less comical note, I daresay you could implement something like that quite easily by having them have some kind of fear effect when they charge.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. Much appreciated!
I did use the airbrush and the smear tool quite a bit for the shading, Steve.
Also, I like your very vivid description of ape battle techniques! Very cool!

If you want some inspiration for a white ape army and all the possible types then check out the remake of 'The Planet of the Apes.' The end battle scene between the ape's and the humans is really cool. Ray
