Hmm. I was thinking of doing a fold-nearly-flat version of this with an interior.
Any chance we can get permission to collaborate on this project to release to everyone here? I'm not interested in any "ownership" of the results, or any particular use (If someone else that worked on it wants to submit it in a contest, I'm happy with that.)
I'm just hoping not to have to duplicate efforts - and that probably requires permission, and cooperation.
This model is amazing, I want one (for a Team HQ or something), I want it playable (interior), and I want it to not take up shelf space. :-)

Chris gave permission to mod the habdome with files released at the forum here. Just wants credit for those elements that he supplied.
For my part, I would have no problem with it at all, and had given some thought to those who like fold-flat. It was designed to be done in four parts: The dome, the downstairs, the porch and then the doodads (cupola, gables, chimneys). If the four dome pieces were to slot together, sliding into the dome cap, and slotting into the dome base, I think it could be done (almost flat). Downstairs would be easy, and the porch wouldn't be difficult. I think it would then be the cupola, gables, chimneys and steps that would be the issue.
I almost decided to do a Halloween version without the balcony, but adding a Queen Anne type tower in its place.
Nearly flat, with interior, would be a challenge, but if folks are game, why not?

I've just had a look at the files - very nice! I'm afraid we won't be of much help with any fold-flat design. We always build our models very solidly with the interiors, furniture and props glued firmly in place - for one I'm too lazy to set up a complicted interior at the game table, for another it simply looks a lot better when everything is firmly in place and can't be turned into a chaotic mess by butterfingered players. I'm not trying to criticize the fold-flat method - it's amazing what you do with that, oldschooldm - it's just not our piece of pie.
What we can do, though, is help with the interior and prop design. Ownership of the final model isn't a concern of ours, either. What I post on this forum is there for anyone else to take and do with as they please. So, if you want our help in this regard, we're on board.
Vermin King, have you given any thought to the interior lay-out of the house and what purpose it is supposed to serve - private residence, bar for weird steampunk fish-flyer pilots, asylum, whatever? That would be important with regards to the props to be designed.

As this is based on the Armor-Stiner Octagon House, which has floor plans and interior views on the internet, those would probably be a good start

I originally stated that the porch shouldn't be too difficult, but now I am not so sure.
The last couple of days I've been having a bit of brain fuzz, so maybe it won't be as difficult on the porch as I am now imagining. I suppose that if you broke the porch into three sections, the floor and roof could slot into the downstairs and together, then have the railings/supports as a wrap-around. Not sure.
If anyone can handle it, I'm sure you can do it

Thanks. As usual, as Papercuts approaches, I get an idea that I have to run with in the time allowed. I definitely had to stretch my abilities on this one. I'd love to see another build of this. Which reminds me that in the development thread, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/8366/steampunkish-idea, I need to post the files for not doing the balcony over the porch ...
